Gone retro! - Torq Thrust 18"

Hey guys. Decided I'm going to try a retro look. Something a little away from the normal I see here. Picked up these American Racing Torq Thrust M's 18x9 and had them put on today by a local tire shop.

My only gripe is caliper clearance up front is CLOSE. Too much so. I bet simply replacing the brake pads would make them touch. I may run a very thin spacer later on just to give it some breathing room.

Other than that, I love them. They are really nice for being your typical main stream, mass produced wheel. I have some polished 'Camaro' scripts coming from Emblem Pros and will be adding touches here and there to bring it closer to its 1960s counterpart.

I haven't seen these on Victory Red yet so here are some pics. I will get some better ones tomorrow that don't have such harsh light on one side. The sun is setting right now...

Thanks!

When I showed them to the tire guys they smiled and were like 'Oh look! Mustang wheels!'

:mad0260:

It's all in good humor though. They are way nicer than being on stockers.

I agree. The hockey stripes would look so perfectly retro!

Ahaha. Funny enough, it's usually the non car guy people that refer to them as 'Mustang' wheels. Don't know any better :noidea:

Nice choice they look great. No less awesome than the 20's look.

I like it. I think 18s actually look better on the 5th gen sometimes. Too bad the 18" options are very limited on SS cars.

They look "GREAT"! I like the old five spoke look on these cars, I went totally chrome with mine. They sure beat the heck out of those stock wheels that's for sure! Nice touch to the car. :w00t:

I got those on my SS...got the same "Mustang" comment a time or two...but I say if they're good enough for the NickeyChicago camaro, good enough for me...lol...

They are tight around the calipers for sure...but a miss is as good as a mile...I wouldn't mess with any spacers...putting new pads in the calipers isn't gonna make them any wider...lol...If they don't hit, leave them alone...lol...Looks nice...

Thanks guy. I have an extremely light vibration in the steering wheel. I need to check into that. No complaints though past that. Drove it to work today. I may rotate the tires front to back and see if there is a difference. Could just be a slightly off balance wheel.

TT owner checking in. They kick ass... I push the old school look to the limit w/ my car.

I'm actually gonna be switching out to the Coys C-5 next year. They look similar to Torq-Thrusts, but with a more smoothed out spoke and lip edge, as well as having a nice oldschool "bullet" center cap:
