Looking for a shop with a paint oven in the region
 

So here's the deal:

I've decided that I want to repaint my camaro but I need it to be done properly with good quality, so definitely not maco. Preferably I'd like to have the oven type of car painting done, actually it's a must. Currently the camaro is just the average type of red that was done by GM when the camaro was produced. I would like to either keep it red and just change the shade to a lighter, more vibrant shiny one or change the color to a vibrant shiny shade of orange. I was quoted at least $2000 just for the materials. So I'm trying to find a cheaper place, I'm thinking $1500 for the materials and $2000 for labor. So I'm wondering if you guys may know of a good quality but cheaper paint shop

Thanks for the props, I do appreciate them. Unfortunately cheap and high quality do not go hand in hand. Keep this in mind, if you have you car repainted, and its not done correctly, your going to take the value of the car and throw it away. First whatever color you decide on, if its not the original shade, then the proper way to refinish the car would be to repaint the engine compartment also. Nothing devalues a car more then opening the hood and finding a different color on the inner fenders and core support.

Refinishing a car, even a new one, takes a shop that has an understanding of the workmanship and quality involved in entering into a project like that. We have done over 20 show cars in the last two years and all of our cars are trophy winners. If you are set on refinishing your car we would be happy to discuss the project with you, however the realistic cost for a different color or shade would be around 7K.

My 4th generation camaro was painted that beautiful, shiny, glowing red...it cost around $6,200.00 - and that was in the middle of Ohio where labor is cheaper!

i second the fact that inexpensive and quality do not go hand in hand for a good body shop, especially in this region. thats not to say you might be able to find a spectacular body guy who does jobs on his own. maybe then you could get a better price for your project.

I'm not exactly looking for inexpensive or cheap. What I mean is that I'm willing to spend 3.5 to 5.5 K. That's not exactly cheap. I was given a quote of 7 grand. That is not a problem, however if I will go down that route I will have the shop by my house do it. And, I don't know about you but I wouldn't say that spending between 3500 to 5500 is cheap or inexpensive.

$3500 isn't cheap, but it is relative to the actual cost of a good, quality paint job. If you could get a brand new 2010 camaro ss for $15K it'd be considered cheap. $15K is a lot of money, but it's really cheap compared to what a 2010 should cost.

$5500 you're probably okay, but anything less than $5K be careful! It also depends - if you can find someone who does great quality work but owns their own business, maybe just does it for fun, not necessarily for the money, you might be able to find something good for $5K.

Other options are to just paint part of the car - two-toned, or get a custom stripe, airbrush etc. done.
