550HP L99 here I come!

kdoske 04-20-2009 11:04 AM

550 does sound nice....
To bad it will probably cost $10,000 plus...

GTAHVIT 04-20-2009 11:06 AM

OMG... that is so gonna suck for my pocket book... I'm hoping I can do something similar for less than what they will charge...:( Bit if not, it's good to know they are out there.

Supermans 04-20-2009 11:08 AM

I wonder how much these packages will cost?? If it is any more than $10,000 for the cheapest option to get over 500HP, then it isn't worth it.. Get a GT500 instead or a Z06 Vette.

lingenfelter is not known for being cheap, for less money you can probably get the same power output...

I'm very well aware of that. :confused0068:

For me it's a matter of finding the right guys to help me install the internals and polishing... I don't know any good shops around here. My last modded car was built in my home town so I personally knew the guys doing the work...

In the end I may have to go with a lingenfelter just to be sure the car is reliably built...

I really don't want to do that if I don't have to.

fdjizm 04-20-2009 11:42 AM

i agree, nobody wants to autozone it lol i guess part of the chunk of change is peace of mind.

Vash 04-20-2009 11:45 AM

Yea they give you a replacement powertrain warranty. Also your resale value will be higher vs DIY parts install. Cause it will be an actual "Lingenfelter Camaro" after done. And it will be in elite crowd cause I don't think they will make that many.

Much more elite than say a GT500... cough. :)

:word: Now, if it's $10K over a 1SS, that's not too bad, but if it's $50K... Considering SLP wants like $51K for the Firehawk, I wouldn't be suprised, but sheesh! Given the two packages I got a quick look at, it's not like they are just bolting on a SC - they're building the engine for it, so that's, obviously, good. But still.

I'm still giving GM a few years to see if they can bring anything out.

:word: I'm lucky I have a guy, local, that I trust and that's a good thing to have. Still, Lingenfelter's been around a while and even though dad died a few years ago, it still seems like they're doing a good job over there. Given price isn't a concern, they have put out some really great stuff in the past  Too much $$$ for my blood though :(

What? No V6 Love?:(

I know, just get the SS but options are good, I'd like to see what sort've improvements could be made to that beastly V6 with a snail attached.:D

Magnacharger is going to offer a supercharger that will put the car around 475rwhp thats around 550 to the crank. With a 36k miles warranty on the drivetrain for 6k. Add long tubes, off road x-pipe, etc and it will probably be close to 600hp for 8k.

I think thats a better deal, I have the feeling this package will cost around 20k at least.

MerlinZero 04-20-2009 01:09 PM

Damn... I need my car so i can send it off for another 4 weeks
