Remote start 2013 Manual Trans ?????

Has anyone done a remote start on a 6 speed Manuel Trans....:chevy::cool:

I don't think it can be done unless they bypass the safety switch on the clutch.

My guess would be no ...

I believe when I was browsing through the forum a while back I read it was *possible* but too costly to justify doing it on an M6. Unless you've got the money in which case :w00t: More power to you.

However I could be wrong

*edit* Remember now why I thought it was cost prohibitive. The Viper system plus installation was around $700 or so for another member. For the sole purpose of getting the remote start, that seemed like a lot.

It *can* be done, but it's not a very good idea.

Why is that?

You would have to park the car in neutral and leave it parked with the parking brake for sole support for holding it in place. I wouldn't want to park my car and "hope" the parking brake holds it especially on a hill or even slight hill. I'd hate to see my car roll up on another car or find it down the bottom of a hill hitting who knows what. :yikes:

I think that most that want the remote start are ones that start it in their flat, level garage/carport so car movement wouldn't be an issue with just the parking brake. Not saying it is a good idea but if it is something you want then do it. Otherwise when parked elsewhere then it is in gear and parking brake engaged as well I would hope.

They do sell kits and it can be done; however, it is illegal in most states to have remote start on a manual transmission.

If you put one and you let someone drive your car, you need to remind them that it has it or else you risk this:

I personally think remote start on a manual is just asking for trouble. All it takes is one time for you to leave it in gear - and BAM your camaro is driving itself to work.

Disabling one or more of the interlocks (as some have done to apparently make using it a little less cumbersome) can result in a case of hell and handbaskets if anybody else ever gets hold of the remote. Google "luckydawg003 remote".

Plus your adding aftermarket electronics now tied into multiple modules... run into a warranty issue with the car, and it could get ugly.
