What sacrifice will you have to make for a 2010?

Well... Today I have decided...
I am going for it....after all..
I want one, and I will have one.
The first day I heard that the camaro would return, I knew that I would have to have one. I have had 7 first gens, and 2 second gens, and 3 third gens, and 1 fourth gen. I will have a 5th gen too, but this time, when it comes out.
I had at first decided against the idea 1 year ago when I had originally decided that the new camaro would be another gas gussler. With the soring prices of gas going up, I decided to go diesel. But WTF?? Diesel right now is $4 a gallon and climbing... Don't get me wrong.. I love my Jetta TDI special ed. It gets a boasting 42 mpg avge in the city alone and up to 500 miles a tank. I sold my 68 camaro due to the fact that it costs way too much to drive (partially due to the 462 CI big block) even to drive one day to work.
So, I gave it the boot, and bought me a new harley and paid cash for it.
But, my roots as you can see are truely camaro.
I had my first camaro and the age of 16. It was a RS. I paid $400 for it, and to this day, I can not get "camaro" out of my system. I have tried obviously with no success. How many FBODY's have I had? Let's count em.
13! Wow! 13...Thats if I did not miss one.
I want the 5th gen. I have just shy of 11 months starting to day to plan for one. I have made it a goal for sometime next year around this same time next year to be drivin one.
Sacrifices:
To acheive this goal, I will
have to
1. Sell my 06 Jetta TDI and get my equity out of it (about 4k.)
The key hear is finding the right time to sell it being diesel is going up, not down.
2. I may have to sell my 07 aniversary HD sporster I paid cash for (about 9k there)
With that being said, that would give me about 13k in collateral, give or take.
The key being knowing when and when not to sale.
3. I will have to buy something to drive until next year, which cuts into my collateral.
:iono:
So, what sacrifice if any will you guys have to make.
I make 30k a year, so no, I am not rich by any token of the word.

Saving every penny I can, and getting a second job to buy mine. It will all be worth it though!

Go to school and WORK WORK WORK.

Hell, I'm thinking of joing the Air National Guard just for the bonus (7k up front).

Just working OT to get more money down. Maybe eating out less once I have it.

Not rich here either. About $50,000 a year, but trust me... When they say the more you make the more you spend, it's true. LOL

we're trading in a '99 Miata (if we dont sell it outright first) and we're going to quit buying things that have no use in the house we live in now, since we'll be building a house in the near future.

Exactly.
Maybe we need to start a forum for setting a goal to make this new car for everyone that plans on getting one a reality not just a dream...People can help keep others stay n check just to make the goal. I said a prayer this morning to the Rock of Ages...
I know he heard me, the rest is up to me to make it reality.
It is my #1 goal as of this writing to get this car.

I'm selling my Cutlass, and I'm waiting a couple years before buying too. I may even wait until 2012, as I think 6 years is at least how long you should usually keep a car. By 2012 I'll have my Cobalt for 6 years, and I'll be 25 so I'll get my insurance discount. I hope to make about $50,000 a year by then. Luckily the higher cost of living and the higher wages that go with it actually make cars relatively cheaper in Southern California. I lead a pretty simple life and don't buy much nor eat out much. I have no credit card debt and a couple thousand in savings. My only debt is a very manageable car loan and decent student loans. I think I'll be able to afford it without any other extraordinary measures.

Trading in my 07 Eclipse. After all the aftermarket accessories and extremely low mileage, I should get upwards of 15k. I got some inheritance money that I already have saved. I will probably put 10k in addition to the trade in. That way I can make small payments and still have some money in the bank. Unless I decide to pay it all off at once.

Pay cash for it if you can....you'll be much better off in the long run!

I haven't made a car payment in 10 years plus...all of our cars have been paid in cash! Its the best feeling in the world to hold the pink slip in your hands, while it still smell new inside!
