couple reasons why..

1. The dodge drag pack cars are NOT STREET LEGAL. How would you feel if you buaght a car but couldnt license it or drive it on the street? GM feels thats not the way to go with consumers..

2. Dodge is only making 100 of them a year. Again.. unless you want to pay a huge wad of cash due to exclusivity.. GM feels thats not the way to go...

3. The cars are only available to current established race crews, in other words unless you happen to own a race crew.. your out of luck.

It is not that gm doesnt feel that is the way to go with consumers. This is a whole other type of consumer. Plain and simple it isnt street legal.

CamaroSpike23 09-15-2008 05:12 PM

its retarded.

seeing as how the cars are "race-only" and still weigh too much and are too underpowered to compete for any thing serious. tho since they are produced like that "from the factory" i guess they could race in a "stock" class without interiors and all that.

4. The Z28 historically is not a drag-race only oriented package. In fact, if you go back to the 1st generation the Z28 was the road-course car, not a strip car. For some reason for the 5th gen people have got it in their minds that a Z28 can only be a high-horsepower, supercharged drag beast.

The big decision will be whether you want a 5.9-liter Magnum wedge, 5.7-liter Hemi or the big 'n nasty 6.1-liter Hemi

Sounds more like what a ZL1 could be.

o2camaross 09-15-2008 05:53 PM

yea i didnt know that it wasn't available to the average joe. That is pretty stupid. What exactly is the 5.9 wedge

because it is a Dodge Challenger?

sorry......... I had to say it.

SS4EVER 09-15-2008 07:16 PM

The race version of the Challenger I actually think will sell will be the Dodge Challenger Super Stock... Which is meant to compete in the Eliminator "stock" class in NHRA Racing... but yeah, the Challenger is way too heavy and bulky to competitively compete in actual track racing...

Although this would be the perfect time for Trans Am racing to come back out again... ;)

Mr Twisty 09-15-2008 09:36 PM

Dodge & Ford know better than to go head-to-head with the Camaro on the twisties

:word::clap::headbang::)

SilverTurtle 09-15-2008 10:06 PM

because that's the wrong kind of track for a Z28 to be on
