Sooooooo, has anyone traded in their Camaro for a Boss?
I know our cars are pretty boss, but has anyone made the leap to a Boss 302? I saw one on the street a couple of days ago and while I don't particularly like the looks of the GT, I think the Boss looks pretty sick. Just wanted to get some responses, I'm not here to call anyone a "traitor".

Much like when the Camaro came out, most dealers around here are adding on $8-10k above sticker. That's a huge disincentive. I looked at one, liked the car, but not enough to get me out of Rosie.
I love looking at cars, its my weakness. LOL |
I hate Ford so much....
I'll admit the Shelby is sexy looking though. |
ummmm well.........NO!!! ....If owning the latest flash in the pan car or being a Blue oval fan is what is important then I can see why the... "Boss"...(.makes me laugh to even say it ) would be appealing. BUT...it is still just more of the same old same old from our friends at Ford..You can put lipstick and a dress on a pig but it is still a pig (not that I have ever done that and any rumors to the contrary floating around out there are false).. The Camaro is a whole new idea, not just some regugitated makeover of a tired idea.. The Ford faithful will gobble up anything that the MOCO throws at them but not this Chevy guy...

I had a joke with a buddy that if they let me trade even-stevens I would be up for it. But I have yet to find a dealership offering that kind of trade in.
NOW I'm not jumping over the line into Ford country, but to be honest, the pure performance offered by the BOSS is pretty impressive, only haterific fanboys would try to dispute that. I love my camaro...but like I said, even stevens trade for that beast...would be a no brainer hehe. |

The new "BOSS", to me is a pretty nicely sorted out performance car. Heck, it is a very capable machine. Overall, better balance and handling than the Shelby GT500, which it outperforms on the race track. (i.e. better lap times around Laguna Seca than the Shelby). Not too shabby for a lot less money.
Add he performance software from Ford to the PCM, and it turns into an all out race car. And all that with a full factory warranty. The killer to me was dealer mark-up. But in the end, I love my Rosie too much to even go down that road. |
I'll take a boss 302 over an SS anyday, anytime, and any day of the week. Those things dont just look mean but it has one of the best v8 exhaust note I've ever heard from a mustang.
if you like 302 than check out the new 2012 roush. Its even sicker. |
Lol yeah the camaro is a hard thing to even think about parting with. I know that probably within the next year or so it would be prudent for me to get a truck so I'll probably be waving goodbye to my SIM beauty...unless I can talk the wife into trading her honda in for a truck mwahahaha

Nah, just keeping my Camaro. I have spent less and can out perform a stock Boss at this time in most cases if not all. Why upgrade to a stock Boss when you can modify a camaro that even looks better and has more ammenities for less and the same or more performmance?:iono:

From a purely performance/driving standpoint that Boss looks like a blast. It's looks are so so...still a mustang, although I do like the laguna seca package, that DEFINITELY stands out from other stangs.
I still wouldn't trade my SS in, even for an even trade. |
good friend of mine has one, that car is a weapon for sure. Very fast car and he hasn't had the track key programmed yet which will up the HP even more. The only thing I see is that its pretty pricey and it already has all the goodies added so unless you want to throw a blower/nitrious at it, you got what you got

To me it seems that the Boss 302 is more of a track car while the SS is much more street-able. I like to compare the "Boss Package" to Porsche's RS package. By putting in more chassis braces, pumping up the power and price, stiffening the suspension and cutting weight the company comes up with a faster car but one that is less useful for daily driving

A guy in our Camaro Club traded in his 2010 pacecar for a Boss 302 because he absolutely hated AFM...and didn't want a tune.
It sits pretty in his garage next to his GT500 |
