93 z28 question?
Ok so ive been looking for a z28 6 speed for awhile an i found one a 93 z28 6speed with a rebuilt motor and over 2000$ worth of mods for 2500$ but the oil pump fell off so the whole motor has to be pulled to fix 1000$ and the body is a little rough...paint fading clear coat chipping and a fist size dent in the back 1500$ to paint and fix dents so im at 5000 so far.....
Should i spend the money on it?:iono: |
No. it beat to s***. just my .02

PASS

No, don't waste your time.and money. It's a POS.
|
Pass, search around some more. I found a 98 Z28 for $7000 in great shape. I wouldn't sell it for $20,000
|
you can find a 98-02 for a little more with a better engine imho, LS1 > LT1.
|
93 f-bodys are the worst 4th gen to have. They have the older computer system in that are speed density and you have to burn chips to make changes for the tune. If you look hard enough you can find LS1 cars for $3500-$5000 that need a little love.

The biggest reason to avoid a 93, IMO, would be the 3.23 gears and non-vented optispark. Either way, this car seems like a great candidate for someone who has the time and expertise to bring it back to life on their own. If the OP is looking for something to drive, then it's probably best to invest the money elsewhere. |
I live in missouri and its hard to find one thats not an automatic and thats not 8500$
|
What's wrong with using the Internet and traveling a few hours? I drove 5 hours to get mine. When looking for niche vehicles, it's always best to open up one's search.

ive been looking in near by states im just getting bugged by others to buy it so i figure idd have u guys explain y its not a good deal cause they wont listen to me

Seriously, I will say to you and anyone else on the board. If they find an Fbody out here in the Vegas area and want someone to check it out before they travel all the way out here, I will be more than happy to do so. Weekends are by far the best time for me to do so. Look for what you want and in your price range. It took me almost 2 months to find something and it was WELL worth the wait. Good luck |
haha thanks nut its like everytime i find a good deal something goes wrong or the guy backs out
|
That just means it's "not to be." You'll find the right one, and when you do, you'll be so glad you waited.
|
I found mine in Georgia lol. It was totally worth though. I spent countless hours looking on autotrader, Craigslist, and calling dealers to find the one that was just right. When I saw it on Autotrader I knew it was the one for me. I called the dealer right away and put a $1500 down payment on it cuz they said they had several people looking at it just that same day.
So the moral of the story is just wait for the perfect one. You'll find it when the time is right. Don't rush into something right away cuz it sounds good, you'll regret it. Trust me. |
I found mine on eBay. Don't hesitate to use cars.com, autotrader.com, or searchtempest.com. Also don't forget LS1tech and CamaroZ28.com classifieds.

Never hurts keeping an eye on the local used lots too. I seem to be a stastical outlier/lot stalker because I found mine mere hours after the guy traded it on an '11 5.0. 29K miles and they had just done a check of the car.. thought she was f'ked up.
Turns out the rotors needed changing and the fluids switched out. Former owner let it sit. 10.3K was the negotiated pre tax price.. you can do it man. Just keep a sharp eye out. |
You can get a nice semi-high mileage but reliable late 4th gen for about 5k. Pass.
|
Sounds like a piece of crap, it isn't even worth $1k.
|
Ok guys ive found a 96 lt1 six speed with 170k looks pretty good with leather and t-tops for 2500$ this a good deal?
|
I really enjoyed my 93. I just hated I didnt have the knowledge to use Lt1 edit program to tune the car so I i went with a jet stage 2 chip and an MSD ignition box. I never had problems with the optispark either. I had big plans for her, headers, lt4 conversion and 3.73 gears along with a complete supension rebuild. Had to sell her though :( wish I would have kept her. Im gonna attempt to post pics.http://http://www.facebook.com/photo...type=3&theater
