C) Due to financial situations, they may have less people working on it and no time to delay

There's a very good chance the ABL might not make it in to the first run of cars. I ask all of you to not just lay down and hope the ABL is there but to keep pushing this subject until we hear back from GM saying everything is fine because they do need to realize how important this particular option is.

Who the hell said they were having problems with it??? Proof please!

All right, listen up boys.

I just got a PM from Scott himself saying that ambient lighting IS NOT CANCELED.

So stop worrying.

Then I was told by the dealership that their will be ambient lighting in the camaro and that they havent heard of any issues, so I told them to hold off on cancelling. I reread the posts here and realized that it was just a rumor. I'm glad I did or I would of had to put in another order after just cancelling it. I hope nobody else jumped the gun early like I did. Whew, i'm still shaken up of possibly losing the allocation to someone else who might be on the waiting list.

You did what! Thank God that dealer was on his game, otherwise you would be royally pissed.

Hey everyone, this is my first post on the site. However, I have been reading for roughly 2-3 weeks now.

That being said, this site has changed me from possibly being interested in the car to: I HAVE TO GET THIS CAR REGARDLESS OF LIGHTING AND I WILL TELL EVERYONE ABOUT IT!!!:happyanim: (Even though I live in a mountain filled area and driving this car will not be fun when it snows a lot in Northern NJ). So all of you guys on this site need to be commended for generating interest in this car, the site is definitely doing its job!

Welcome, and we are glad to help you.

Taz,

That is what my last post was about. I hate it when threads like this get started and they change from a WHAT WILL YOU DO IF... thread, to some kind of factual thread based on the original "what if".

I have said from the beginning that this thread should say in big print that ABL has not been cancelled, this is a WHAT IF thread. I knew people would freak out and start to cancel orders based on a rumor.

Moonsault 12-22-2008 09:25 AM

I am just going to be VERY upset if I (like other loyal followers) recieve my first-run Camaro with NO ABL, only to have it released a few months later, making my model a lesser version.

I must agree somewhat with COPO. I was extremely excited when I placed my order on the first day in October. But since then, with the news about HUD, the stripes and now the ABL...the constant dissapointments are starting to mount. I am still eagerly awaiting the car, but it does leave me thinking; "what else is going to change?"

djsnoflake 12-22-2008 09:30 AM

OK I know I said I was done talking about this, but I have one more thing to say.

Lets just delete these stupid what if threads. This is rediculous. Or maybe I should start one.

"Will you cancel your order if the Camaro will only run off of cat feces?"
Yes
No
Maybe
I don't have a cat

kinyu 12-22-2008 09:31 AM

I have it in my SSR ... overrated. I can't see why anyone really cares.

UCF w00t 12-22-2008 09:34 AM

And we all know what difficulties they had implementing it in the SSR, it was delayed for YEARS so they could get the lighting working!

rofl, I think the ssr went from concept to sales floors in about 45 minutes. Shouldn't be toooooooo tough to get in the camaro.

Read some of their post and you will see why they care.

I have so many things to say right now, and I'm not going to say any of them until I hear back from some of the emails I've sent just recently... bottom line: silence isn't always golden.

Moonsault -- DUDE -- don't say "now ABL..." as if it is something factual -- IT'S NOT !!! This isn't even speculation -- it is a WHAT IF thread and you are taking it as if it has already happened. STOP -- JUST FRICKEN STOP.

BTW -- what would you do if your wanker fell off? Better go look -- it might have already happened.

The Ambient lighting on the Silver car does not work like it should...and there's a reason for that.

The car was built LAST DECEMBER --

We are putting the finishing touches on Ambient Lighting - and when it's ready, we can hardly wait to show it to you because it's a really cool thing......

But I certainly don't want you to see it 'half-done' - which is what happened last night.

I believe the above from the "Ambient Lighting" thread on 11/21 is the post that started all the skepticism. Encouraging are the facts that:
1)The "subpar" lighting system was from 12/2007
2)Scott phrased it so mildly saying, "...putting the finishing touches on Ambient Lighting."

Also worthy of mention is the way the OP about the LA Autoshow that started that "Ambient Lighting" thread, and to which Scott was responding, ended:
"Overall I was very impressed that the ambient lighting is what it was projected to be. I can't imagine, I saw it when lights were everywhere..I can't imagine it at night "

Looks like little reason for alarm folks. And if Scott was so upset with the silver car's "half-done" system being seen, a system that actually impressed the onlooker, the final product may really blow us all away!!!!

1) I was just giving my opinion (which I thought was the point here)
2) I do not really see the relevance of your above comment.
3) I am British, and your choice of word in above quote is about the most abusive personal derogative that we have. BTW.

Seriously? I've heard Brits use that word very liberally.

That is good, but we also need to remember the OP on that particluar thread. The Original poster who saw the ambient lighting in the silver SS said that it looked great, even in the piss poor lighting conditions that he was in (ie a fully lit building) The fact that the camaro team is still working on it means that it will look even more badass. I didn't take it as the lighting wasn't ready, I took it as we are making it even better than we anticipated.

If somebody said it to my face I would not be best pleased. I suppose if you are of a disposition where cussing and use of profanity is normal place in conversation then you would use it. But seriously, very disrespectful.
