Does Your Radio Stay On?!

I have noticed that the radio stays one whether the key is in or not. Open the door and close the door and the radio still stays on.

ANYONE ELSE?!

So what you're saying is I can turn the car off and leave and the radio can still be on?

Brokinarrow 05-07-2009 09:47 AM

The lights or the actual speakers? If its the lights, I know some cars the interior (and sometimes exterior) lights will stay on for a couple minutes after you shut it off and walk away.

Maybe its UFO flybys?

ChevyHawk 05-07-2009 09:49 AM

If I remember correctly, you have 1 hour before it shuts off. Plenty of time for a visit to lookout point (not that a Camaro would ever be a participant in a necking session). ;)

It's usually no more the 10 or 15 minutes or until a door is opened. In my 06 vette and 09 SRX the time is programable via the DIC.

My avalanche does the same thing. Open any door but the driver side, it will stay on about 15 min. As soon as you open the drivers side door, it shuts off.

Yep - turn on that radio with or without the keys.

But it shuts off when you open the door correct?

detroitboy 05-07-2009 11:01 AM

That could be getting changed in the next reflash coming up. Would that be in the BCM?

CamaroScotty 05-07-2009 11:31 AM

It goes off when you open the door...but you can turn it back on without the key and it will stay on.

What about the CD player? Is it a 6 disc Changer? (Boston)

mcernik 05-07-2009 01:00 PM

Nope Single CD

I think it's only 1 disc, but if you get a 2LT, 2SS, or 1LT with the Convenience & Connectivity package, then you get a USB port that you can plug an mp3 player or flash drive into. That's a lot more music and a lot less space than 6 cd's.
