Crappy 1LE Wheel Paint Job....

I took the wheels off my 1LE today to wash them. I was replacing the OEM lug nuts with Gorilla Wheel Locks anyway.

I was appalled to see what a crappy paint job GM, or whomever the OEM manufacturer was, did on them.

The outsides are painted nicely, but just several inches in and they are "splattered" with paint. The rear facing part of the wheel didn't have any paint at all - just bare aluminum!

It really surprises me that they would cut corners like that. I was planning to buy another set of wheels for the track, but for the money, I can get real quality wheels that are probably lighter and finished properly.

End of rant.

Take it to your dealer. Was any wheel close to perfect?

No - they were all done the same way. I can't believe I'm the only that got a set of wheels finished in this manner.

Just very low quality.

That's how all oem wheels are.

This is my first American car in a very long time. I swear. It doesn't have to be this way.

I guess they figure no one every looks at their rims much less removes them.

Before I took them off, I thought it was dirt or brake dust, but noooooo.

Old news. My ZL1 = same way.

No they're not. Every one of my GM cars had wheels painted inside and out, although they may use a different paint for the inside.

Makes me think the paint can and will start peeling off from the inside out.

Come on, Chevy. Even if you didn't spec this please audit your suppliers thoroughly.

I used to be a buyer professionally. Number one thing we'd do is inspect suppliers' factories. If messy we'd think they didn't have the right quality quotient and immediately look elsewhere. Same goes for shoddy design.

Start painting these wheels inside and out.

And frankly between this, some axle shafts breaking and ozzy's strut I'm damn worried.

Heck even my "My Link" keeps resetting itself. Today it said it was August 2012. My home screen doesn't stay in the sort order I specify. And my splitter still doesn't fit right.
