PLEASE HELP!!! Need advice!!!

2010 camaro ss auto

Current mods:

Magnuson tvs2300
3.2 pulley 10lbs boost
Rotofab cai
Cooks 1 7/8 longtubes
Str8 piped mid section (no cats no X or H pipe)
Flowmaster mufflers
Aem meth kit
160 thermostat
Custom street tuned by matt solomon MI
Nitto NT555R's

Mods about to go on:
Huge trans cooler
H&R 1" lowering springs
Stoptech drilled & slotted rotors with ceramic pads

Just put in new NGK TR6 spark plugs & MSD spark plug wires.

I have a few issues and i wanted some help from you guys please! So i just installed the meth kit, went from 3.8 to 3.2 pulley, cut out cats put in str8 pipes, installed 160 thermostat, installed wide band and boost gauge, and installed spark plugs and msd wires. My tuner said theres still room left to make some more power i should be retuning with him tomm. So far im not impressed at all with the diff in power! It does not feel faster! When its under WOT the car goes to 10lbs and then drops to about 8lbs, what could that mean? Shouldn't the meth and diff in pulley size mean a huge jump in power like extremely noticeable jump? After a couple hours of tuning he checked out the spark plugs and noticed they were the stock AC Delcos so we stopped tuning and he recommended i get sum ngk tr6 and msd wires b4 we move forward. He was also a bit concerned as to why the boost drops from 10 to 8. The car has the stock injectors that came with blower, there duty cycle is about 80% he said also the car has stock fuel pump but he hasn't said anything about fueling issues yet. I believe the car made around 500 whp b4 and i was hoping to gain 70-100 with the new mods. Please any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!!!

Sounds like your blower belt is slipping. JRE has a nice tensioner. Usually better to run a bigger pulley on the blower for more belt wrap and go with a over drive on the back of the blower. Bet your just about out of fuel. ZL1 pump will be the best bang for your buck.
Spark plugs lol you can debate which ones to use all day. But at lower boost 6-10 and NO NOS the ZR1 plugs actually work very well.

The car will be a lot faster after it cools off a bit also. Top mounts just do not like the heat.

Please change your sparkplugs and get a fuel pump.

Agree with Slickas. You're suffering from big time belt slip. I'd stick with something like a 3.4" pulley until you add the o/d rear pulleys. You might want to strongly consider a blower cam too....if you want to turn the blower that fast. If you did cure your belt slip with that 3.2" pulley, you'll probably be in the 11+ and maybe 12psi neighborhood. With a blower cam, probably 10ish psi.

Belt slip man j know all about it. Jre tensioner will help but really should upgrade to 8 rib belt. I have everything u need for sale. Message me if your interested.

agree with fuel pump upgrade, wires and plugs. suggest fuel pump voltage booster (got mine already tuned by JRE). Ted mentioned things dropping off towards the top w/o the booster so I got mine

Most likely belt slip. I had slip issues with a 3.8 pulley on the dyno because it wasn't adjusted for maximum belt wrap. 3.2 would be worse. Get a tensioner at a minimum or switch to cogs with a 3.8 front pulley. Also, get a dang fuel pump and ADM module or Boost-a-pump. My duty cycle was about 95% with the stock injectors and a 3.4 pulley. No need for MSD wires, the stock delcos are fine, unless they are old, but I see that you changed them already. TR6s are ok, I have the Iridium version, TR6ix, and I run 10.5 psi of boost. Boost goes up to 10, then back down to 8 because the belt slip probably begins around peak torque. The torque isn't just going out the rear of the motor to the trans, it's also going out the front through the crank pulley.

Just get the OD cog and put the 3.8 back on. Belt slip will be gone.

Shouldn't the car feel alot faster though?? What would be reasonable expectation for HP increase?? I will look into OD COG and ZL1 fuel pump with FPCM

Not if the belt is slipping.

You need injectors, you need a pump, you need a tensioner, or 8 rib, or both. OD rear cogs would help. Look into the RDS Maggie plates too. Like others said, probably want to get a cam in there to open it up and lower boost a bit.

What sz injectors are you running?

He said he had the stock maggie injectors, which would be the 56 lb ones

PIGSMOKR 07-30-2014 04:28 PM

Maggie comes with 56lb injectors. I ran 3.2 pulley with blower cam and bolts ons with stock fuel pump with boost a pump and made 651rwhp. Then I forged the bottom end and added heads and od cog and still made 650rwhp cause the belt was slipping. Added the 8 rib belt and new fuel system and made 750rwhp.
