How many Mustang owners will switch?

As a 2005 Mustang GT owner, and previous owner of 1987 and 1995 GT Mustangs, I can honestly say that I am really, really anxious for the launch of the reborn Camaro. By no means am I married to the Mustang or blindly loyal to any brand for that matter. The Mustang is a seriously fun car that is maybe the best bang-for-the-buck value in low-priced performance cars. And not only that, but I have had mine for 3-1/2 years and 34K miles, and it has not been back to the dealer for a single issue. Not one problem since Day 1.

That said, I would switch to the Camaro instantly if this car is what I think it might be. Before the Mustangs, I owned a 1974 Z28, a 1980 Z28, and a 1984 Z28 (L69 HO engine), and during that time I wouldn't have dreamed of owning a Mustang. :)

So, my plan was always to keep the Mustang about 4-5 years, and then I was really considering going foreign (and 6 cylinder) but at least staying RWD and looking at the BMW 135i. The problem is, that car does not have nearly the styling pizazz of the Mustang. And really, only the Camaro and Challenger can approach the Mustang when it comes to styling. So for those reasons, I'm leaning toward the new Camaro now over the BMW when it comes to replacing the Mustang.

Just wondering how many other Mustang owners out there are going to switch?

i grew up in a 68 mustang and have always loved stangs (mainly the classics tho) i never paid much attention to camaros until i saw the new concept and I've been falling slowly in love w/ it lol.

as for the BMW 135i - i've test driven it and its a niiice ride, but its going for $40k+ after options, the new camaros should be able to outperform it for cheaper (just a few setbacks in ride quality and luxury items i expect)

so i'm actually going from mustangs, from BMWs (selling my 540i) to the new camaro!

I've always been a Chevy Guy. However a guy I work with had a gen4 camaro that died a couple years back and he had to replace it with a mustang, as a stop gap till the new Camaro comes back. I don't know if that will really count as switching but he will be going from a Mustang to a Camaro.

Cool! I wanted to check out a 330Ci BMW around 2004 after I had owned the 95 Mustang GT for 6 years. But when I finally got to driving one, I was less than enthused. I mean, the 330Ci is a top-quality performance/luxury car, no doubt about it, and it was one of the best cars I had ever driven in my life. But it simply lacks the torque of an American V8. So I got the 2005 Mustang (for $12K less) instead and never looked back.

I would be real interested to see a comparo test with the Camaro on a road course, and see if it actually could outperform the BMW 135/335 on the track. Like you, I believe it would, but it remains to be seen in actuality.

I always liked the Mustang and the Camaro, My first car was a 89 Mustang and I was planning on buying a 2005 mustang when I first seen the concept and fell in love with it, sadley the production version was changed so much from the concept and I never bothered. In 2006 I seen the Camaro concept and fell in love again but happily this time they didn't mess around with the camaro concept version to the production version too much that the car still looks amazing though I'm sure the 2010 mustang will look a lot better then the 05, it there is no way they can compare to the amazing looking Camaro.

I always liked the looks of the early year muscle cars. My first car was a 95 v6 camaro that was a hand me down from my mom. Im currently driving a 06 mustang GT but thinking about going back to camaros. I love how all the companies are going back to more of a nostalgic look. The concept Cuda doesnt look that bad either.

I know I'll

My Mustang was a placeholder until 2009 rolled around, so I don't know if I count.

My first new car was a '95 Camaro V6,but my favorite car ever is a Mustang. I'm waiting until i know what the situation is on the upcoming 5.0L and then i'm driving the Camaro,Mustang and Challenger(among other cars like a GTI or WRX) to decide my next ride.
I'm not switching though,i'm keeping my Mustang in addition to whatever i get,i already traded a new edge Stang once and always regretted it,so it's a keeper. The Camaro is what i'm leaning towards,i think this car is a huge leap forward for pony cars. It's like when the C4 Vette went to the C5 and it was such a huge step forward for the car in terms of competing with the rest of the world,i think this new Camaro will be a world class car.

I am switching from Mustang. In fact just a few months ago I was about to get an 08 Mustang until I found out when the new Camaro was coming out. Since then, I have been completely captivated by the Camaro and there is no way I would get a Mustang instead.
