lowering covered under warranty?

i went for an oil change today and asked about having lowering springs put in they told me since gm doesn't sell the springs that the suspension would not be covered if i put in aftermarket springs.any thoughts?

They can only void if the part you installed directly caused the damage to your vehicle. They may tell you different... Many years ago there was a lawsuit about this and the manufacture lost.

They will not cover the springs or the shocks. Had a shock go bad and they said soooo sad!

It kind of depends on the service manager. They can be either nice or fight you about stuff. Like the post above states, they can't just say no to everything.

I agree with this, bring your service writer breakfast ;)

The warranty will only be voided on the part that is directly effected, like a strut. If you loose oil pressure and your motor dies, well its obvious a lowering spring did not cause that.
