Regardless of where this thread is supposed to be, many here are probably too young to know much about the hp numbers for the original intercooled GN's.
C&D tested one in their 4/86 issue, and on a cold day it ran 13.9 in the 1/4 mile. From that run, they estimated it was actually making closer to 280hp from the factory (not the claimed 235/245hp). Of course, most stock GN's ran mid-hi 14's once the outside temp rose ... |

What a fun article! I was a youngster when the Grand National & GNX came out and they were dream cars that had me drooling. Even today they look eee-vil and sexy and I would still be proud to own one. What was the earlier comment? MENACING? Exactly!

The turbo Buick's were awesome straight line cars, that's for sure. Makes me miss mine.
