of the ones that have come through the shop I work at both have been painted the color of the block. One was blue, but it was a aftermarket 454 and one was black (supposedly a numbers matching 350). We had an all original inline 6 come in awhile back that had no dipstick there was just a plug in where it should have gone. Besides that all of the others had aftermarket newer motors or very heavily modified motors. We have another 68 with a 454 coming in Monday I will try and remember to look at it. Hope that helps.

Thanks - do let me know what that other car looks like. |
The dipstick tube and handle are natural unpainted finish. The handle may have a tiny plastic tip but the color of the tip depends on the application. Small block '69 tips are green as are most of the SBC service replacements available. Original '68 Z/28's had a gray tip. '68 Big Blocks had a purple tip.
I hope this helps. -Mark. UPDATE - The '69 Z/28 seems to have come with a flattened handle and no plastic color tip. Some of the service replacements are not flattened and have a green plastic color tip. |
Unfortunately the guy who was bringing in his 68 didn't come in today because it was raining. The forecast is for rain tomorrow but it should clear up Wednesday, so hopefully it will be in by Wednesday. I will let you know as soon as it gets back

Our customer finally brought his Camaro back in today unfortunately his dipstick is chrome as is most of his motor so I know that is of no use to you. I will keep an eye out we should have a few more come through in the next few months.

I have a factory original 67 it is natural unpainted. The only old cars I have ever owned are 67 Camaros. The only thing consistant with first Gen cars is their inconsistancy
