American Racing Headers

I want to install American Racing 1 7/8 long tube stailess steel Headers with hight flow cats ( from American Racing), will my check engine light come on because of my secound pair of o2 sensors. If this will happen does anyone know were I can get restrictor sensors to eliminate this problem, or is there another solution???

If anyone has this setup on their car already please let me know if this problem occured.

Thank You

I'm an idiot.

Can't help. I would think you could have it tuned, but I'm not sure.

i have the arh with high flow cats no light problem and they are the best fitting headers i've ever installed . its a 45 minute job!

I have the arh headers and yes i got the light. Went to my local discount auto had it read and turned off. Came back on about 100 miles later. No way around it coming on. Some guys on here say there light comes and goes. A tune is the only way to turn it off and have it stay off.

Worth the effort to have it tuned.

Did you have it dynoed before and after to see the gains without a tune?:iono:

If you want to avoid the light, you will need to get a tune. This will also help you realize the full potential of the mod or mods you already have. I would advise you to knock out all your intake and exhaust mods before you have the tune, again, just to maximize your results.

a good tune will give you 10 to 20hp on top of other mods know matter what you do to it and it will get rid of C.E.L. and it will shift better on the L99.

I'm still trying to decide on headers. long tube for sure but, WHO? I don't know yet.

IT is a good idea to have the car tuned as with long tube headers it moves the front o2 further downstream. The computer needs to know this. The computer is tuned from the factory with the front o2s in a certain spot. Move them downstream and the info they are getting is delay.

ARH and KOOKS are 304 stainless that seem to be best quality, but Texas Speed has a good deal going for header to tip full exhaust price but they are 409 stainless which is good too. i have some beautiful ARHeaders that are staring at me waiting to be put on but i will install along with a cam when i can get all the parts together its a PIA to do a cam install on the L99.
