once more please M mode on L99

This is not about going down the drag strip but for best acceleration/response around town.
If I drive around town in M mode (only) will the car start in first gear and shift itself automatically ? Is this the best for max acceleration ?
I read in the handbook if you do go into M mode and come to a stop, the transmission will revert back to second gear starts unless you go out and back into M each time.
Any thoughts ?

Well I had to edit my previous post.
I took my car out for a test this afternoon and it sure seems as if 1st gear is used when the shifter is in M mode (when not using the paddle shifters).
The reason I say this is because when I start out from a dead stop, I get a little bit of wheel spin off the line and then it shifts at 6000-6100 rpms (around 35-37mph) into second gear.
If it was starting out in 2nd gear it wouldn't hit redline at 37mph and shift. So it must be in 1st gear?

have you thought about this. when you shift into M mode. and you push the left shifter "M1" comes up because that’s as low as it can do not because it was in M2. and when you click the right paddle M2 comes up because you just shifted out of 1st into second.

if it’s already in 2nd gear when you shift to "M" why won’t it shift to 3rd when you click the right shifter

I had to edit my previous post. I'm pretty sure it starts out in 1st gear from a dead stop in M mode and D (regular Drive).
Go out and mash the gas from a dead stop using M mode. Your car will hit redline and shifts around 35-37mph. So it has to be in 1st gear.
