LS9 cam in a L99??
 

Anybody have this setup and whats the horsepower you are making?

Not worth it especially for a L99. With a L99 the heads needs to be pulled to change the lifters. It needs a full DOD/VVT conversion for a LS9 cam plus new valve springs. Thats alot of money in parts and labor for maybe 30RWHP.

Putting a blower cam in a N/A car doesn't really make any sense. Just because its off of an engine making 650hp doesn't mean it will help yours. The LS9 was engineered for boost from the get go, there are much much better cam choices out there.

43 hp with the cam swap. The cam is dirt cheap and is considered a budget sleeper build in the truck world. I think the cam can be had for 110$ from the dealer.

Not trying to be that guy, but just putting things in perspective. One of our tuners up here tuned one of our tech's stock Tahoes, and picked up 40rwhp with just a tune. Food for thought.

In his case, it was 43 hp retuned in addition to his tune with existing bolt ons. Not 43 over stock :thumbsup:

With that being said OP, You can gain much more with a performance cam which costs around 400$ +/-.

However, the ls9 is a great budget cam if you can justify the labor costs. I think zr1 springs can be had for 80$ and the dod/afm/vvt delete kit is about 500$ with all 16 ls7 lifters, gaskets, ls3 front timing cover, bolts ect. Remember this isnt a simple cam/spring swap, you still need to take off the heads and change out all that stuff, so keep that in mind.

I've also seen 4.8 foxbody builds use the ls9 cam on TT setups with FANTASTIC results. For the price, its not a bad cam to use.
