Anyone else prefer standard shifter over factory hurst?
 

Coming from a 2011 Mustang, and doing a lot of test driving of the Challenger and Camaro SS (both with the TR6060). I test drove a 2012 2SS with the factory Hurst shifter option and found the throws much too close and effort too high for a daily driver. Anyone else prefer the stock to Hurst?

Also, noticed the ZL1 has a much nicer shift knob than the SS... has anyone swapped one out yet?

I had the MGW short throw installed. I liked the stock shifter as it was quiet and smooth. Only downside it was sloppy and loose feeling. The MGW is tighter, and did take more effort to shift than stock, but i added the retro shift lever and ball, which is longer than the standard issue with the MGW, and it feels closer to stock in its throw, but still shorter than stock.

Slight downside to the MGW is it feels notchy, but feels more firm and tight than stock.

I've still got my stock shifter and it's not sloppy. It's the operator not the shifter thats responsable for faster shifts.
The aftermarket Hurst has the cool retro look and by the looks of things they"ll be in the $150 range by middle summer.

Too much effort for a daily driver? Not even a little. My first mod in every manual I've ever owned is a short throw.

I do daily drive the factory short throw - often in stop and go traffic.

If you drove the car when it was cold and sitting, you'll notice the shifting requires more effort. This would be the same for all stick cars, regardless of shifter type. As the trans warms up it'll be like butter.
