CAI Install Question
Sorry if this is somewhere already, I did a search and didn't find a definitive answer. Is it required to disconnect the Negative Batt. cable to install the CAI. Don't want to do all the re-program, windows, radio etc. if I really don't half to.
Thanks in advance!!:help::help: |
No, you do not have to disconnect the battery cable. You wont be near any electrical wiring.

99% of the time mfgs put that in the instructions as a disclaimer for the people who manage to find a way to shock themselves or short out the electrical system. There's no real reason to do it. I didn't even do it when I put my LTs on or my tune.

I disconnected mine and didn't lose any programs... I was suprised when i reconnected it and my radio stations were still saved:thumbup:

:respekt:Thanks to all, will try it without disconnect.!!

When we submit products to the California Air Resources Board for exemption they want a copy of the install instructions. SSMat is right, it's a disclaimer they make us include. Even if the instructions were how to change a tire, they would still want it to start out with 'disconnect negative battery cable'. Big brother doesn't want you to get hurt is all. When I'm doing headers, I always disconnect it. Although the Camaro's have a shield over the starter, you just never know, and when and if something sparks, the computers can sometimes really take it personally.
