Barton Shifter!!

I don't have either, but from my own research, I'm going with either a Barton or an MGW when I can spare the fundage. Most likely a Barton. Hurst is overpriced.

I installed the new Hurst Billet Shifter in my SS and I love it. Shift from first to second is only 2". With that short of a throw it's like power shifting.

I've installed a Hurst and a MGW. From an installation standpoint the Hurst and other "handle replacements" are MUCH easier to install. But for final results and performance of the shifter itself, MGW cant be beat.

Is This Possible:

I have ordered the Hurst shifter kit w/white ball for my SS LS3. However, as I keep reading that this shifter really shortens the actual shift distance I am not sure I am gonna like this. I know this will sound odd, but I kind of like the way the stock shifter works. I just don't like the way it looks. So my question is is it possible to only add the Hurst shaft/ball to the stock shifter mount? Has anyone done this. :confused0068:

I installed my MGW with the white retro knob yesterday. Hardest part was getting the stock shifter knob off, hands about went through the roof when it finally let loose.

I like the feel of the MGW, but haven't got to actually drive the car yet. I live on a dirt road and they are mud right now.

I was leaning towards the Hurst just because of the retro look. As soon as I saw the new MGW knobs I couldn't resist.

Are the new MGW knobs out yet? I read a thread a couple weeks ago that George was gonna come out with a bunch of different knobs for the "retro" stick.

I ordered directly from MGW (don't know if they have distributors). I got the white round knob with the shift pattern on it. I'm pretty sure she said they had the black also. I don't know about the rest.

I went to their website and called them last monday-very helpful. I had the shifter on Friday. Total was like $385.

I went with Barton for the $250 setup. You get the option to use the pistol grip, ball or stock knob. I pretty much change it around weekly.
