Perfomance chip...is this for real?

Has anyone on this forum purchased one of these performance chips on Ebay?
Curious to know if this chip will affect warranty, and does it actually do what is says it will do?

Anyone?

I think that chip should be left along. Can't be all that great if it's only drawing 1 bid. Get the Diablosport Prediator.

Thes are usually just a .35 cent resistor or some radio shack crap and Those things do nothing. If it really did what it said, the auto manufactures would already have used this technology to "Increase power by 50 HP and 15 MPG increase" for 9 dollars...

Sorry, I dont mean to be rude but people who sell these things are thiefs and liars and nothing more... Much like electric superchargers and speaker turbo simulator blow off valves. Junk.

What you really want is a performance tune and some simple bolt ons to bring out some more power and it will cost much more than 9 dollars.

Ok... What I did was add a separate IAT (Inlet Air Temperture) sensor. The stock IAT sensor is buried inside the stock MAF housing and tends to suffer from heat soak. This is very common issue with the stock GM MAF/IAT sensors.

Here is my write up on adding a separate IAT sensor and the results:

This is about a $30 mod...

If something on ebay seems too good to be true, it definitely is.

I bought this chip awhile back and posted the same thread you have here... I got chewed out by alot of people saying not to put this on my car cause it could scramble the computer, but ya people were saying some things that were pissing me off badly!!! The chip actually came in, its not even a chip, its a wire w/a tiny module (a separate IAT (Inlet Air Temperture) sensor) like scrming said but ya doubt i'll ever touch it. If anyone wants to see a pic of it, pm me your email and i'll show you

I laugh every time I pass those things while browsing ebay. The 'ol IAT resistor mod.. In reality showing negative air temps through the IAT will increase your ignition timing, but it's kind of a silly way of doing it.

From an engineering standpoint a module like this is possible. It would plug into the diagnosis port in order to flash the ECM . A relativlely simple and small chip/circuit board that could be reproduced in mass to make it cheap. The problem is that it likely will not allow for adjustment to fine tune.

Here is the Jet power control module. This probably gives you a similar tune as a performance tune with the predator(or does it?), but for a few dollars more you could get the Predator that has tunes plus does SO much more.
