One of a kind auto trans Shift Handle

I decided to try to make my own Shift handle for the Camaro.
Being an amateur woodworker , wood was the obvious choice.
I bought a used shift handle from Nutro here on the forums.
I stripped it down to it's inner housing.
Then I cut a piece of Maple burl in half and carved out the halves to accept the shifter housing. After I got it to fit properly the outside had to be shaped.
Basically the inner housing is surrounded by an eighth inch thick layer of Maple burl.
After I roughed out the shape of the handle I siliconed the housing inside the two halves and glued the two halves together .Then came much sanding. I also put a strip of Black Ebony (wood) between the handle and the lower chrome trim. Then I sprayed it with several coats of clear lacquer.
It took me probably 10-12 hours over the course of a week to complete.I had to walk away from it a few times.lol.

Ok, my first shift knob turned out great but I didn't like the color against the green and black interior. So I wrote off another 10 or so hours of my life and made another.
This one is a piece of Quilted Maple . I used green aniline dye to stain it ,then several coats of clear lacquer.
I think it looks much nicer .
