Headers with out a tune

Looking at getting headers and high flow cats soon (2011 L99 borla atak catback) leaning towards kooks long tubes.. Any of you members out there running headers and cats with out a tune?

Kooks is the only one that offers a LT/Cat package that supposedly does not require a tune due to the "green" option cats. otherwise it will pop a O2 sensor code sooner or later.

without a tune though you wont get the full benefit of the upgrade though.

I've got long tubes and don't have a tune and cel is on.

As of yesterday, I am running coated Kooks 1-7/8" headers and cats (not the green ones) without a tune. I plan on getting a remote tune done in the next few days but, as of now; no CELs so far. However, based on everything I have read, a CEL is just a matter of time without a tune.

Running headers and cats without a tune will not hurt the car but 1) you won't get the full benefit of better exhaust flow without a tune and 2) you will eventually get a CEL and/or other codes.

I don't have cats.

this I don't get.. with as high flowing and light as cats have gotten there is literally no reason not to have them anymore unless it's a track only trailer car.
people swear I have gutted cats or none at all but they are there and car is fully legal.

with today's tech you can now have power and be responsible too.

i think the price of cats is what usually turns people off, IMHO

My main reason for not wanting a tune was powertrain warranty issues, but I guess it might not be an issues if its just to tune for the headers as they would have to prove any problems were from they tune itself

In addition to cost, supercharging is a good reason to go catless.

AFM is gonna suck big time with headers.

Um SC cars still pollute...
and ZL1s and ZR1s still have cats..
cost? was very little difference with the SW system.
