Flaking Wheels
2 Attachment(s)
Can someone tell me if this is normal? I have a 2010 1LT/RS with about 26,000 miles on it. Bought it brand new about a year and a half ago. I just noticed yesterday that the midnight silver finish on the wheels is starting to flake and peel on my passenger side front and rear. I've never had wheels like this so not sure if this is normal with that many miles or if this might be something warranty might cover. Any knowledge would be appreciated. Thanks

It is if you curb them. ;^)

Maybe you let the wife or gf drive it?

From the picture, it really looks like something came into contact with the wheel...a curb, road debris, etc. It does not appear to be a paint adhesion issue. Paint would not wrinkle or curl if it was just de-laminating from the wheel. Just my .02.

Nope. Didn't curb it or anything like that. It's literally just flaking away.

the 2nd one looks like a curb check, the first one is not normal. what do you use to clean your wheels?
|
Is it just me ? I swear I see rub/scratch/scrapes on both wheels in the photos.
Passenger side = curb side = impact/collision imo. |
If you are the ONLY person that ever drove the car since delivery, and I mean the ONLY one; I'd go for the rims made contact with the edge of a nasty pothole or something. Definitely appears to be scratched near the paint gone on both wheels.

Been too a Touchless car wash recently?
