In Iraq, Looking for a project

I'm looking to buy between a 1969 and 1979 Camaro. I would like it to be in running condition, however will probably restore a lot of it. My question is how hard is it to fix rust and flood damage as some of the vehicles I have found are like this. I am currently in iraq and looking for something to do when I get home. Also how hard is it to convert an automatic to a manual.
Thanks!

As long as the rear frame rails are not rusted out the floor pan is not that big of a deal to replace. The best place to look for a camaro I have found is ebay motors. They have a large selection and there are some pretty good deals on there. I bought my car a 76 camaro off ebay motors for 620.00. It is not that hard to convert a automatic to a four speed. You will need the tunnel from a four speed car and the pedals.

My advice is not to mess with a conversion. Your gonna tackle a whole bunch of issues with an old car and you don't want just one more headache and hole that wants money & parts.

There are a lot of mods you can do to automatics and that's the route an automatic classic should take. When you change it you start going down a non restoration path. And the value will never be the best.
