Amp rack install location?

Hi all,

Built a super basic amp rack for my two amps. It’s basically a 12x32” piece of wood and covered with matching trunk material. I have a 2012 convertible. Wondering how you would mount it. I can either:

A. Just lay it in flat in the trunk by the rear seat, affixed by Velcro, or

B. Use the nut and bolt that the screen was attached to (removed for purposes of the side enclosure installed) and have the amp attached in two spots on the back seat, where the rack would then be at an approximate 45 degree angle. Note I’d only have two corners at the top holding this in place (none at bottom corners) but I think that would be enough?

Anyone have any thoughts on either of these methods?

Thanks.

Nevermind. No responses so I just made the decision.

Depending on what size amp you decide to go with, you can possibly use the stock amp location on the driver's side rear. Lot's of room back there if you choose wisely and you won't have to drill any holes or risk hitting important parts. Personally I don't like the mounting on back seat route that a lot of people do.

I just noticed that you have a convertible - not sure if you have the same space.

Thanks so much for the thoughts. I have two amps to install so putting it in the stock location doesn’t make a bunch of sense since I still need to find a place for the additional one.

I did a 4 channel in the stock amp location and I mounted my sub amp on the box. Simple, clean, looks great.

What box did you use?
