V6 top speed runs
Hello all, I have sort of a dilemma, Ive been trying to do some top speed runs in my 2012 Ls m6, i have a cat back Solo Exhaust, and K&N drop-in filter. I also took out the spare tire in the trunk to save some weight. However i cant seem to get past 120-125 :mad0259:, so idk if im doing something wrong? Do i need a tune or something? Any suggestions are appreciated Thanks

what happens at 125mph? does it hit the limiter or just sits there at 125?
|
it just sits at 125 and im like flooring it in 6th
|
when you redline the 5th to 6th shift about what MPH are you at?
|
damnn i really havent redlined it lol what rpm should i be in 5th?
|
Thought LS's with steel wheels are limited to 118mph unless you have a tune
|
oh wow i forgot to say i have the rs 20's on it if that makes a difference?

As mentioned, your car must be speed limited (electronically speed limited). You'll need a tune to delete the speed limiter.
But I thought all the cars that come with 20" wheels were limited to 158 mph. |
wow ok, can someone link me to a 2012 v6 tune page?
|
If your looking at getting a tune go with trifecta. Just do a search on the forum there is a ton of info about it.

What RPM are you at when you're in 6th? You may want to try to downshift and see if you're just not shifting too early. I have an A6 1LT (limited to 118) and I sit around 4000 RPM as I hit 118.

This is so simple. MDiaz's car is an LS. All LS models were ORIGINALLY equipped with the 18" steel wheels with the T-rated tires, and limited to 118 mph. If the owner at some point optioned up or added wheels after-market, the limiter is set at 118. The slight difference in circumference of his wheel/tire combination that's presently on the car is showing up as an erroneous reading on the speedometer.
The car will not go faster in any gear, at any RPM. But it could. It has to be tuned out, as most of the other posters mentioned. You also have to make sure you have tires rated for that higher speed. What's the letter speed designation on your tire sidewall, MD? John B. |
your top speed will be in fourth or fifth gear, not sixth
