OMG HELP! Oil Change Botched!

Changed the oil today and I happened to purchase the 5qt jug which has a foil coating under the cap. Long and short of it is that a pretty good size piece of the foil went into the engine. I would say 1/4" by 3/4" strip. Whats the worst that can happen? Should I change it again and hope it comes out…fat chance right! Where might it get caught up in. Damn!

Time to buy a borescope. Don't drive it until you pull that junk out.

:der:
how does that happen??

Can you pull the filler tube off without too much difficulty? Good chance that it hung up in there somewhere... and, it's a long shot, but if the foil happens to be of the right metallic material, you might be able to catch it with a magnet...

Does the V6 have a filler tube?

agreed dont drive it. you can drain the oil through a screen hopfully it comes out. but there is a chance it is under the baffle on the valve cover. you may have to pop the valve cover off and look for it.

good idea on the filter tube. you mite be able to pull it off.

I know, I saw that too. I was just curious about the V6 so I was asking ScaldedDog.

I'd try one of these, or pull the valve cover.

Well think about it . The guy made a mistake and didnt take the foil all the way off and as the oil was poured in a piece of foil came off is my best guess . No need to use this :der:. Shit happens

Pull the valve cover and don't change your oil anymore.
