Custom Paint Job--Flames

Anyone know how much a flame-paint job would cost? something like in the picture below (just the flames across the front of the car in one color)?

Thanks in advance!

that depends on a lot of things...

color of paint, prep work, clear coats, overall time to complete, etc.

dunno, maaco might do something like that for a grand. and one clear coat. im going to be spending about 2500 on a paint job sometime in the next 2 years. but im getting the entire car painted a diff color with accents, inside and out. and ive got a friend in KS who does paint for a living.

maaco? you might as well tape off your flames yourself and use some spray paint.

don't get a half ass paint job, especially on a car as beautiful as the camaro. ;)

So I take it you and your husband don't recommend MAACO.

Yeah, i know better than MAACO or Earl Scheib... i'm looking for a custom shop... i won't get serious about looking for one until i get closer to buying the car though so no worries... plenty of time  Thanks for the input, people!

I'm sure I can call a few people who used to do paint and body work for my parents back in the day. They owned Wheels and Deals in San Bruno for 28 years. Sold it about 10 years ago though. I'm sure the family friends are still around. Mike LaVallee took off for Alaska, and look at the stuff he's done in the past 10 years.

I know this isn't what you're asking, but be careful with flames. It's the most cliche thing to put on a car and usually it looks terrible. You don't want your Camaro looking like a PT Cruiser due to cheap flame. Make sure to find an expensive, high-quality painter with a very good shop facility.

Nice... i'll def. be in contact with you when the time draws near if you don't mind? BTW how's that dealer's list going?

Thanks for the advice. Only reason i'm thinking about flames is because it seems as though everyone and their momma is going to have stripes :( I'm not really one for attention but I do want my 'maro to look different from the mass. I'll be sure to do my research before choosing a painter

Mindz 08-04-2008 03:03 AM

That's Mike Lavallee's work. killerpaint.com

He does some $50,000 paint jobs too.
