Guys who have installed springs only, in here please....
 

I have searached but figured it would be easier if i could just get all the info I am looking for in one thread. I am wanting to put a set of springs on the car.... Probably a Pro Kit. My question is is just changing out the springs only how bad was the wheel camber? Did you do it your self or have a shop do it? I just went by my local alignment place and he gave me a quote of 900 for labor ONLY!!! :paddle: So I am seriously considering having a buddy of mine help and do it myself. I have looked over the instructions online and it doesnt look too bad at all but how long time wise am i looking to spend? And after the install did you have to get an alignment? And some after and before pics and what springs you went with would be great! TIA :w00t:

I had mine installed locally, spring install took about 2.5-3hrs, and you need an alignment afterwards. Swaybars added another 1.5hrs or so.

$900 for a spring install is outragous. Call a few more places, $200-300 would be much more reasonable.

I just installed PFADT coils thru a vendor on this site IPS Brandon, I used the following link to help with the install, If you have moderate mechanical ability you can do it yourself, everybody I worked with said I was crazy for doing it to myself on a 40k dollar car, but that was part of the fun proving them wrong, regardless of what coil brand you use the directions will be the same.

Spring install is pretty simple on these cars. Take your time and have a buddy help, should be a good learning experience

Yea, that's a little high, $900 for that install. I had the Eibach Pro Kit put on my car and my local shop was going to charge me $280 for the install and this also included the alignment.
I ended having a local member here in Indy do it since he had put the same kit on his and another members car when they had a Mod Day over in Ohio.
With my assistance to him, we did it in 3hrs and it would have been about 2.5 but we had to run out to Lowes to get a 24MM socket and a pipe. Turned out really nice and he gained a new socket and pipe in his tool box. I went to Hare Chevrolet the next morning for my alignment which was $99.99. I'm happy and saved all the way around and I love the look and stance, plus the ride is still good!

I installed my Eibach springs in 1.5 hours, but I do have a 2-post lift in my home shop ;)

Definitely rent a spring compressor and do it yourself. Even using a floor jack, a person with very little mechanical experience can probably do it in 3-4 hours tops with air tools. Add an hour or so using hand tools.

Thanks again guys... now I just gotta figure out for sure what brand I wanna go with... Eibach, Hotchkis, PFADT or BMR .... first 3 would be 1" drop and BMR would be 1.4 in front and 1 in rear...hmmm... thoughts about what brand to go with?

coil springs can definately be a DIY project. But you need to understand the spring energy that is in the front. There is very little spring engery in the rear on the OE coils. Each manufacturer of drop coils should have a point pby point install process for you. If not, find one that does.

Pfadt is about 1.4" also. That is what I have.... and love it.

I used the Eibach and installed myself..car drove fine to the dealership for the alignment and there is plenty of adjustment built in to the strut mount so there is no problem with lowered alignment.My dealer charged me 60.00 for the alignment.You will need the spring compression tool to do the job...other than that just normal hand tools.

Yea $900 is way crazy. You can do it with a buddy. You will feel great after getting it done yourself.
