My Plasti Dip'ed Camaro

I wanted to do something different with my Camaro, I loved the color but hated having to fill in all the paint chips from driving it every day. So I started a company called Dip Strong that paints cars in the rubberized Plasti Dip coating. I kept getting questions on if the paint is safe on the cars, so to answer their questions I just painted my Inferno Orange 2011 2SS Camaro with the olive drab green. To make things even more outrageous, and to see what I could really do, I decided to give it the shark teeth and eyes like a fighter plane in WW2. The design ties back to the Flying Tigers who flew P-40 Warhawks over China during WW2, and the plane in the picture is something I get to look every day at for inspiration. Now everyone looks at my car and is "inspired." The best part, the paint is (completely) removable but it's going to stay on for some time, I absolutely love the look, and the publicity it gives my company. Www.facebook.com/dipstrong

Almost all of it is dip, except for the vinyl kill marks, the tiger to make it more authentic and the hells angles girl on the front. It was a lot of fun to do! More photos at

The process to get to this point was long and time consuming but I loved the outcome. I painted the car in crazy heat which makes it dry quicker but It was still workable.

Inspiration...and if you look hard enough you will see the plane that I based the car off of

Before I started I had vinyl graphics on the car that had to come off after 2.5 years. Vinyl is a lot harder to remove than PD, thats for sure.

Masking out the eye, this was all done by eye (no pun intended) at first and then I measured out the other side.

Tongue

The teeth were a challenge, about 2.5 hours per row per side to mask out and then prep to paint. Then another 2.5 hours to paint, you really have to be patient with this process.

All said and done...with just one side! I had to repeat the process later for the other side, at about another 10 hours, but I am very pleased with the out come.

I wouldn't do it to my car, but it looks really really cool! Definitely looks unique

I was expecting the "same old" but it looks well done. I think it would've looked great even without all the vinyl additions.

Although I'm not a huge fan of plasti dip especially on the hole car, your ride looks amazing!!!
