Camaro Laps Nurburgring In 8:19!

I just saw this on Jalopnik, the Camaro has apparently been officially timed at the Nurburgring with a time of 8:19! Sure that might not be a Nissan GT-R time, but it's half the Nissan GT-R price.

how does that compare to competitors' times?

blackZbandit 03-16-2009 01:10 PM

Shaved off a second huh? Not bad, not bad at all. There's an impressive list of vehicles that this car has beat on that track... including the GXP which was able to put up some very impressive #'s in all other performance categories.

But that pic is from an older photo shoot and not Nurburg Ring.

That is 6 seconds faster than a Porsche Cayman S.

Interesting thing is a Cobalt SS did it in 8:22. That little Cobalt is such a badass.

The Wiki doesn't state what year M3. I doubt it could beat a new M3.

E46 is the prior generation M3. 2000-2006. The new M3 is not on that list, and I hate to say it but will likely soundly beat the Camaro.

Isn't the E92 the latest M3? If so it is on the list and did it in 8:05. With a base price of $57,850 for the M3, I'll take a Camaro SS and a supercharger and keep the change.

Miamimatt 03-16-2009 01:44 PM

Wow this is in the same times as some cars double and tripple the cost. not bad at all!!!
