Pittsburgh Area window tinting.

Ive check some of the state and local laws reguarding tint, was just wondering if any members from the pittsburgh area knew how much to , or not to tint the windows. Also if anyone has had a good experience with a specific shop that would point me in a good direction.

If its tinted any more than factory, expect to be pulled over. Just a thought. Its for Officer safety ya know.

He's right no tint unless it's factory! What about dipped windows maybe that's a better route?

Oh absolutely, I understand the need to see in a car. However cosmetically its provides such a different stance with the tinted windows that makes it much more appealing to me.
Pulling over doesn't mean your going to get in trouble, and as long as I follow the laws I'll be ok.

I know the law states "(1) No person shall drive any motor vehicle with any sun screening device or other material which does not permit a person to see or view the inside of the vehicle through the windshield, side wing or side window of the vehicle."

Key wording is or, which means i could tint passenger and driver side window(s) and leave the windshield at stock. And I dont want "blacked out" windows, i was thinking something along the 40-50% range.

Everyone and their mother has tinted windows around here, just don't go crazy dark.

And just to throw it out there, one area to avoid or keep the windows down is South Park... sticklers for dark tint

I have had good luck with Goosebumps in Mcmurray...and if you ever have a problem, they fix it no questions asked. They will do a whole Camaro for 225 or so.
I was thinking of doing 35%, I do not know that I have ever seen 40-50% tint.

AutoFX does a great job, they are in Monaca, 724-728-6003

I'v had a lot of work done by them,:bs:

Nice, Thanks for the input. :). I figure the blacker the tint the more attention, so since 35% is the threshold, I wanted to be further than closer to it.

Smokes35 06-02-2009 02:04 PM

the threshold is 70% on passenger vehicles... PERIOD...

and its 70% from the factory...

I've put 20% on every car ive owned and haven't had any problem in quite some time.
