Best tire size for 20"s

Got some TSW Nurburgrings 20x10 with 275-40-20s and was wondering if to go to 285-35-20s instead. Which would be better for performance and why?

The set up that was on your 1LE I think is better than either performance wise. But nice wheels :)

This is a step backwards if he had a 1LE, but I don't beleive the OP does.

To the OP, better performance is relative to what you consider performance. Better MPG performance = 275. Better cornering= usually wider. But if you switch brand tires from X (275 pilot sports) to Z (285 Kung Pow round), the 275 will provide the better performance.

If you already have the 275 leave them be as you will never be able to tell the difference in performance on the street with only an additional total of 1.5" contact patch.

If you are wanting improved handling the 285/35 is the better choice. The 275/40 with the slightly taller sidewall will give a slightly softer ride for daily driving, if that matters. I've got a set of the same wheels for the track with the 285/35/20 Michelin Pilot Super Sports. IMO, the best tire for a combination of street use and the abi,it's to easily handle track days. The nice thing about the 285 square set up is that Michelin will do a 30,000 mile warranty. Only 15,000 on a staggered set up. I got 25k on the last set on my Roush Mustang with three track weekends thrown in.
