Adding Mylink to older gen5 camaro's

2 Attachment(s)
Over the next 300 days or so i will try to install a Mylink with the Nav to a 2010 camaro, Vin # 91003359 so GM if i F... up its on me. :sm0:

I will add to this thread as fast as i can, dont buy parts till its working, or its on you if it does not work.

New info.

2010 cars are only missing 1 wire more then any other year car, it goes from the onstar box under the glove box to the drivers side, ones there it is wired in to the "serial data communication enable" wire its #5986 its light blue and goes thru the fire wall, we need to add that wire for the onstar to work.

At that point all 2010 cars will be the same as 2011 cars, still missing the rest of the wires, but that is No big deal.

2012 cars have the camera's in the car to start, but they are one year cars only, why you ask? this is why, for some weird reason, GM ran the wires up to the mirror in so doing so they moved a wire in the dome light harness that in 10-11 and in the 13 car is in one pin but on 12 is in a different pin # dont know why they they had extra room in all 2010-12 car at that connecter, so its fine as long as we know its for a 2012 car only.

In this harness is where we can pull the camera wires and reroute them to the mylink in 12 cars.

below are some of the conecters.

Adding the pic for the face plates with and with out NAV.

parts list

List of parts to do the mod, we are done with install and will post up pics in the next week at most.

Head unit there are 2 one with nave and one with out, they fit all model year camaro's.

Face plate's, there are 4 in all but we will only post the ones with seat heaters, fits all model year cars.

http://i482.photobucket.com/albums/r...223_190808.jpg

See below, no Nav button but we where told it will work with the non Nav face plate on a Nav headunit, we did not try that at this time will in some time.

Non Nav part # 22919384

http://i482.photobucket.com/albums/r...223_190915.jpg

__________________________________________________ ____________

As you know the Onstar box has changed from the 2010 cars, they had the Bluetooth antenna on the unit and now its in the head units, The programer thinks he can make it work i will send my old one to him to see if it can be done, so for now this is a needed unit.

Onstar part #22903686

http://i482.photobucket.com/albums/r...223_190527.jpg

__________________________________________________ __________

See only one antenna gos in the back, not 3 like the old cars, the old cars are 2010 and 11, in 12 we think the went down to 2 connectors, if any one knows that will help, we know the shark fin went down to 2 wires.
__________________________________________________ ____________

Next up is the new antenna, It is needed in all 2010-11 cars, the AC Delco site said the same part # was good for the 2012 cars as the 13&14 cars.

If you know let us know, we now on a convert its the same as the 13-14 convert.

__________________________________________________ ____________

Part #22869931
This is for the cope, let use know what car you have and we will get you the right part#

The black one is the right one ,the one with 3 wires is the 2010 and the one with only 1 wire is the Nav only for ero.

__________________________________________________ ___________

Per "DWALEX" the cars with sunroof us this antenna #22739134

And he said yous this # 92237379 for coups, we used the # 22869931 and simply moved the end from the old antenna to use in the new one.

I want to thank "DWALEX" for all he has done to help in this and a lot more Mods, he is a help to this community.

http://i482.photobucket.com/albums/r...227_082043.jpg

and here is what it looks like after.

http://i482.photobucket.com/albums/r...227_082335.jpg

__________________________________________________ ___________

And now to the harness and cables you will need.

Most you can get from the web but some you know will be from some on on here.

__________________________________________________ ___________

first up is the splitter #20960972

http://i482.photobucket.com/albums/r...227_085611.jpg

__________________________________________________ ____________

Next is the new harness that goes in the back of the radio, its the X4 connecter, its all made with JST parts, this is your video in and more.

This was made using shielded cable same as OEM.
__________________________________________________

http://i482.photobucket.com/albums/r...227_085708.jpg

This goes to the Onstar box to replace the auxiliary port wires that no longer come out of the PDIM, before the PDIM got the signal from the auxiliary port and USB and put the info on the low speed buss, now that we dont have a stand alone PDIM this how its done.

Then as you see one set has a video input so that is where your camara goes in, for 2012 cars one more harness is needed to get the video from the back of the car.

last set goes in the back of the face plate connecter it is your touch controls.

__________________________________________________ ___________

This is the only wire that is not PNP its 1 wire to go from the back of the large radio connecter to the face plate connecter, on the face plat it goes in there and then t-taps to #43 pin on the large radio connector.

__________________________________________________ ___________

http://i482.photobucket.com/albums/r...227_085727.jpg

__________________________________________________ ___________

Now for the center console, here is it old and new harness, the new one is on the console as you can see its missing the 2 connecters that went in to the PDIM.

__________________________________________________ ____________

http://i482.photobucket.com/albums/r...227_083421.jpg

And the part # for the right one.

http://i482.photobucket.com/albums/r...227_083822.jpg

__________________________________________________ ____________

Next the GM antenna wires needed.

__________________________________________________ ____________

http://i482.photobucket.com/albums/r...227_090158.jpg

Now if you want to by the GM ones "DWALEX" was nice to post the # for the 2 kits GM sales, and here they are, #13581173, 13581174.

I am not going to sale them that way, there are only the 3 needed, There only "FAKRA Cable Assemblies" and you only need them if your going to get the NAV unit, if you want the non NAV you dont need any of them.

__________________________________________________ ____________

Now for the new wire from the face plat to the back of the radio.

__________________________________________________ ____________

One last thing a USB cabal from the center console to the back of the radio.

This is all new connecter on the back of the radio, some go to the AC controls and some to the radio, and then there is the back up camera, as you see that comes from connecter X208 but only on 2012 cars, so if you want a back up camera it will have to fit there.

This is what needs to be done on the AC/screen connecter, as you can see there are 5 new wires for this too.

I know, ask ppl i spoke to on the phone, all 2010 cars dont have a Mid Speed GMLAN bus, do you know how its wired? from the date interface to the Mobile Telephone Control Module then to the radio with a 120 ohm resister at the ends. i will update soon.

120 ohm resistor. I think will work. the Data Link resistor isin the passenger compartment, taped on the body harness, on the right side of the vehicle, beside the rear seat, under the quarter trim panel

I'm subscribed to both this and the original thread this topic, and really want to do this mod. But the further Ofer gets into it, the more challenging it looks. Much more to it than just a head unit change-out. The likely price of the kit won't be the challenge for me, but rather the extent to which I'll have to tear the car apart to do the upgrade. But I'm looking forward it!

Just sit back and watch. Ofer will come out with a kit, and then someone will make a DIY and BAM all the hard work is done.

Well - we'll also need someone to make a DIY for the 2011 and 2012 camaros. But yea, the "hard" part will be done already.

bluemaro13 02-04-2013 12:50 PM

I am subscribed as well. I really just want the facia. I have a guy that can do away with the buttons and make it look like they were never there. That is all I want. Good luck on the swap!

topgun966 02-06-2013 01:11 PM

If you need a test dummy for 2012's let me know. I have money already set aside for this.
