1st Annual Open Car Show Hosted by the San Antonio Camaro Club

Hey gang!!! I created this thread for us to come together and start planning for our first charitable event. It may seem like November is a long time down the road, but believe me, it will be upon us in no time.

This charitable event will tentatively be held on Saturday, November 13th, 2010 between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm at Providence College Preparatory School located at 1215 N St Mary's St here in San Antonio.

Proceeds will benefit the Broadcast Journalism and Audio/Visual programs at the school. Broadcasting and journalism students will be covering the event with photographers, videographers, reporters, etc. as a graded class project.

We're going to need to organize an event committee to ensure all the work of planning and executing this fundraiser isn't placed on one or two people. I'll volunteer to be this year's event chairperson that will provide direction for the planning of the car show. I need the following volunteers which will recruit members to assist them in their duties:

Treasurer: controls spending, plans a budget, and tracks the funds that are raised.

Publicity Coordinator: responsible for getting the word out about the car show to local media and the community.

Sponsorship Coordinator: will secure cash and in-kind sponsorships from the local companies to keep our expenses to a minimum.

Award Coordinator: responsible for securing trophies and t-shirts for the car show.

Registration & Judging Coordinator: will be responsible for the registration, identification, parking and judging of show vehicles day of show.

We can spend a little bit of our time each Friday night at our meets to discuss progress. Post your thoughts here. I will be posting links to many forms, flyers, etc to get feedback and to help chairpersons in their duties. Even though you may not be chairing a position, we'll still need your feedback...feel free to participate in this thread.

Who let you go on vaction? We are going to have to have a talk with your employer......

Steph did you get his shots before you left for the beech? You know that you must have all your pets vaccinated before you take them out in public and they must be kept on a leach!

LMAS!

JK! Hope you have a great vaction!

:D

Shuffler 06-14-2010 10:57 AM

Ohhhh my..... kept on a leach???? That'll bleed him dry for sure.

C4 06-14-2010 12:47 PM

im down
sign me up

Legend 06-14-2010 08:12 PM

All the Mopar classes too...

Classic (pre 74)
Modern (08 and up)

Could even break it down by Challenger, Charger, 300s, and Neons....SRTs or anything really.

Need an Oldsmobile (442s) class as well as Buick (GNs). Could add Pontiac in there as well and if you want to dig deeper get the sport compacts in there!

Heck, 370Zs, Cobalts, S2000s, etc etc.

Atti2de 06-14-2010 08:39 PM

Well if you want to bring in a Nissan z (240 - 370) class I am tight with that local club

I was thinking of a foreign import/sports car class and or a "Tuners" class. Maybe the Nissans could go in one and the Cobalts in the other?

summitSS 06-15-2010 08:30 AM

These are the classes I have thought of. If any group or car club would like to have their own class that is not shown on here...we can create it as long as we can get at least 5 pre-paid/registered vehicles. Below are exactly 30 classes + a vendor class.

A Camaro/Firebird F-Body 1st Gen 1967-69
B Camaro/Firebird F-Body 2nd Gen 1970-81
C Camaro/Firebird F-Body 3rd Gen 1982-92
D Camaro/Firebird F-Body 4th Gen 1993-02
E Camaro 5th Gen 2010-Current
F Corvette C1 1953-62
G Corvette C2 1963-67
H Corvette C3 1968-82
I Corvette C4 1983-96
J Corvette C5 1997-04
K Corvette C6 2005-Current
L Mustang 1964-73
M Mustang 1974-78
N Mustang 1979-93
O Mustang 1994-2004
P Mustang 2005-Current
Q Mopar - All
R Buick/Olds/Pontiac - All
S Ford/Lincoln/Mercury - All
T Chevy 55-57
U Impala - All
V Foreign/Sports Car - All
W Trucks Pre - 89
X Trucks 1989 - Present
Y Antique - Pre 1949
Z Street Rod (open)
AA Street Rod (closed)
BB Special Interest
CC Tuner
DD Motorcycle - All
ZZ Vendor Spaces

CamaroSkooter 06-15-2010 08:54 AM

I believe CC should just be changed to "Rice"

There are a lot of good suggestions out there, if no one has mentioned yet how about some classics 1955 - 1958 oldies but goodies.

I will also help out where needed. Talk to you Friday!

I agree...I picked a 55-57 Chevy...and I think all other oldies can be placed in any of the buick, olds, pontiac, ford, lincoln and mercury

Separate the Mopar guys too...I know the last show we went to there was no way to compete with a 70 Hemi Cuda with a 08-10 Challenger or a new Charger to compete with an classic from 69!

I'd say:
Mopar 70s and back
Mopar 2000 and up
(is there anything in the 80s or 90s??)

Also...the tuner class will be tough unless you break it up some.

I'd go with domestic and import at a minimum!

CamaroSkooter 06-15-2010 02:06 PM

1 - Import Stock
2 - Import Slightly Riced
3 - Import Moderately Riced
4 - Import Significantly Riced
5 - Import Pep Boys Style

There's 5 ways to split up the tuners :D

Come on, that's funny! :sm0:

Great observations Deron! I have contacted the Mopar Muscle Club of San Antonio and asked them to supply suggested classes. Awaiting feedback. I eliminated the "Special Interest" class and added an "Open" class for those who have cars that will not fit into any other class. Also you'll note I divided the "Tuner" class.

BB Tuner - Domestic - All
CC Tuner – Import - Al
DD Open - Other classes do not apply.

Great thanks! Just take a look at the areas at the top of this thread and decide where you would best fit. We'll definately talk about this Friday...get the lawn chairs out and grab a beer.

They are the same flyer..front and back

CamaroSkooter 06-18-2010 01:30 PM

Apparently everyone likes the backside more than the frontside Darrell. I think you're gonna have to do some augmentation to fix that...

Oh...well, seemed like the same info was on both sides then?

Either way...I drink too much too I hear so I'm good with whatever you pick!

EDIT...too much info then if we can't get it all on one side! My thoughts anyway...I mean, are you going to read a two page car show brochure? I'm not...tell me when, where, what time and classes. If it's for a cause...great, add that in there and maybe a place to pre-register.

PWND 06-25-2010 10:18 AM

Count me in too... I will help out where I can... just let me know...

mlee 09-19-2010 09:33 PM

Soooooo what's going on with this one?... Seems the thread died back in June?

Updates...
