No one REALLY has turbo ? The car has been out a while...

I have been reading and the only thing I have seen was one guy who was posting pics of his turbo with no details and 100 pages of thread.

And another guy who dynoed the same stock after the instillation.

Does anyone DD or have a v6 maro with STS turbo installed ? What kind of HP would one expect ? I am about to lay out 7k+ for this but can't find any solid info...

STS turbo is out for a while, they say its 500hp at crank? but there no real numbers and one with STS turbo didnt show any real improvements over stock
(rdditten (STS) 14.2 in 1/4?)

if you going to spend 7k on turbo, then here
http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=115679

a new Twin Turbo kit for V6 and there an offer for first 5 who buy the kit

Look at the "STS Turbo Installed" thread by ZMaddness. He just posted a video of him racing it. No dyno yet, but it's kinda hard to get a car from one island to another in HI. Jim505 also has the STS kit and has raced the road course with it and handed a few SSs their tails. Like a lot of racers, these guys are less worried about Dynos and more worried about performance. So, let's just say the STS can easily get you close to the same RWHP as the SS with the LS3. Increasing the boost will get you beyond those numbers and ZMadness will be trying that in the next few weeks.

So, if all you are waiting on is dyno sheets to buy the kit, then why not buy it and post your dyno sheets?

I have dyno'd the kit at 5 psi. with 350 at the wheels. I just don't have access to a 1/4 dragstrip. I have autocrossed it a couple of times. There are several STS kits that have been installed and running. Just no one has a 1/4 slip yet. By end of spring, you will see several. Not sure if you were referring to my post but if you were, probably didn't read through all the post (I know it plenty). Hurst has even installed/dyno'd there STS powered V-6. Also Unrestricted Motorsports did theirs (saw it at SEMA) and he has taken it to track days. So not sure about your no details but it works fine. There will be a twin available shortly although that one has not been finalized yet (gretchen).

Also, I have a meth kit and boost controller and have run it at 7-8 psi. on the street. I need to take it in to re-dyno.

how's your 3.73 holding up? any issue or concern with it yet?

Z Madness 03-05-2011 07:34 PM

Not at all. Works great. I think these should be stock in every Camaro!

CRChevy 03-05-2011 08:08 PM

I can't remember who exactley but someone said they dynoed the same as stock and that really freaks me out regardless of performance ... as odd. No need to void warranty and drop 5-7k on something that dynos stock

that just make it more of a priority than any other mod. Glad to hear that theres no problem, I just wish hawaii was more drag strip friendly cause I know we all would love to see what 1/4 your setup is putting down.

You should be able to see some numbers on the drag for CamaroFest. We will be taking it down the track for the event. We are playing with the car slightly now, relocating oil return line into the oil pan, putting the catch can in, getting the meth kit installed, putting a boost controller in and finishing up our bushing kit from BMR.

If someone can actually get one of these turbo V6ers to hook and launch on a 1/4 mile track I think we're going to see some great numbers.....but thats an IF. lol.

Although I'm building mine for the road course, I do plan to take it to the strip some (1/8 here unfortunately). So, I'm going to put trailing arms and bushings on the rear and that will help some. I'll probably not put DRs on it, but I'll definitely be upgrading the wheels and rubber. I think I'll hook up a lot better next time. How knows, I may find some cheap wheels and DRs at some point and buy them. In the end, though, us with the autos are going to need to find a way to get a LSD. I'm keeping my eyes open for that solution. Maybe a vette rearend??? To me they look real similar.
