You can paint your own bezels. :D

What all would that include? Sanding then putting on primer then the desired paint and clear coat?

Pm me, I can help you out on bezels.

You could do that or take them to a body shop

Pop off the bezels. Sand them down until they look like brushed aluminum (spellinglol).
Wash them. Dry them. Lay on 3 coats of adhesion promoter, 10 min between coats. Lay down 3-4 coats of your choice paint 10-15min between coats making the last coat a little thicker (without runs). Let dry for about 1/2 hour, examine for flaws. Sand out flaws with a lighter paper. Wipe clean with a damp rag. Lay on a final medium coat. Clear it if you wish. Basically what I did for mine and I love em.

Thanks for the info! Have to look into doing this, doesn't seem like its that much of a hassle to do...just getting the bezels off without breaking a tab or worse.....

I got both, and sorry I ain't sellin! Looks GREAT on IOM and worth the time to put into the painting and install. You gotta do it! ;)

Yea I have done a few little cosmetic mods myself and get a lot more out of it knowing that all the hard work paid off for the better in the end...not to mention a few $$ saved! How much did you get your AAC Afterburners for?

Pumpkin1LT 06-30-2010 03:02 PM

$199 paid for the kit, double that paid for install as well. But to me, it was worth it. FYI, I did not get the LED 1/2 ring (too "dotted" IMO), I opted for the CCFL. Smoother cleaner look. Worth the $ if you ask me. Ordering the front Amber Halos and Fogs tomorrow to complete the look. Well worth it..and the black bezels too.

Im actually waiting for afterburners with a more concept look to them. I cant stand the AAC ones since they are just LEDs in a half-circle.

Mine aren't LED's, they are CCFL and the only way they would fit is a half moon cut..full rounds won't fit and would look strange. There is a guy on here who pretty much achieved the concept look, and I'm sure that if AAC comes up with a fitment to glow those Afterburners they will offer it to those who don't have it. From what I followed on the concept thread, the mod he rigged up to give the jet afterburn glow effect seems to be fairly simple upgrade, if they can get the pattern cut.

The LED and CCFL afterburners look great at night.

While the concept setup looks nice.... it is not available at this time and may never be unless you rig it yourself. If it does come to fruition you can always change to it later. :D
