This is Holidays time, so take a look at the 45 minutes video of the full, I mean full, assembly of our favorite car. ENJOY...

Sorry if it's a repost, but I have'nt seen any post of this video from months and months. You will all see what goes in and all the engeering required to build your car. Again Enjoy. 45 minutes video.

WATCH VIDEO @ http://www.camaro5.com/full-camaro-u...nd-of-the-line

Here are some interesting tidbits :
  • Each Camaro takes 18 hours of assembly time
  • There are 734 robots doing the nearly 5,000 spot welds needed to create the body shell for each Camaro Coupe.
  • In order to get to the paint shop the Camaro body has to be transported on a bridge over a city street where it is painted and then shipped back across the bridge to the trim area for final detailing.
  • One Camaro rolls off the assembly line approximately every minute.
  • The Camaro engine is produced at a different plant and has to be shipped approximately 2 hours to the assembly line where it finally meets the Camaro.

Great experience.

I was at Oshawa also, but we did'nt have the chance too see all the robots working sheet metal and the paint section. No mans land.
But we saw all the assembly work from the pre-painting guys working from their white mits and then from the car coming out of the paint shop. We where so close thet we could even talk with some employees right from the line.

This was great! I would have loved to see more detail, like putting on the XM antenna and putting in the carpeting. Also I thought that a person actually got in the trunk to for the leak test.

Anyone else notice he kept calling it a 2100 Camaro?

MrDew 12-26-2011 02:36 PM

So, is the ZL1 engine also assembled in St. Catharines? I thought i read that the CTS-V engine is assembled in Mexico...

Would anyone know?

Sevn86 12-26-2011 05:11 PM

Is this the same as the one posted last year? Link won't work for me either. Is it cuz I'm using an iPad and not a comp?

My Caroline 12-26-2011 06:11 PM

I have see this on TV before! It's a great show. Ultimate Factories also did my dads factory, Peterbilt.

Looks like this one is branded as Mega Factories but it was originally aired as Ultimate Factories.

CamaroJim56 12-26-2011 07:13 PM

On each side. The front cradle takes 6 bolts (3 on each side) and the rear cradle takes 4 bolts (two on each side). There are 4 guys that do this not two.
