OFFICIAL BLUE RAY METALLIC (GXH) Camaro Thread

10 Attachment(s)
I've been looking for the new color, Blue Ray Metallic and finally found one at a local dealership. I've attached some pictures as I've not seen any posted yet. Some were taken with a flash and others without. It was an overcast day so not much sunlight and I must say the car could have used a wash but you get the idea. Some shots give you a good look at the metallic flake. The last two give you a look at it next to the black. One with flash and one without. Let me know what you think and enjoy!

That's not a bad looking color. I like it :w00t:

Still a pretty dark blue, why not topaz blue metallic?

BowtieBelle 08-21-2012 10:23 AM

It's just so dark and it looks so gray... I've seen it on the Corvette.

I hope it's popular, though, so maybe next gen they'll give us a bright blue..

c_LoW29 08-21-2012 10:24 AM

quad tips and brembos on a v6 for 2013?

BowtieBelle 08-21-2012 10:28 AM

The pics are of two different cars.^^ Notice one has rallys and one doesn't.

heRS 08-21-2012 10:54 AM

Guess I'll have to see it in person before I make my final decision but it isn't exciting me yet.

BiG_TiMe 08-21-2012 01:50 PM

This looks like CGM with IBM flakes in it...

Thanks I thought about it after I posted and was thinking the same thing. Beautiful color regardless

c_LoW29 08-21-2012 02:03 PM

I dont dig the new style wheel though

2010 SSRS 08-21-2012 02:06 PM

wow, that's very dark and gray looking.

monstertodd 08-21-2012 10:00 PM

OPULENT BLUE

Sent from my abacus using precise finger movements......

DandDC09 08-21-2012 10:22 PM

I still like the IBM blue the best! Maybe it would look better in person...

I agree too gray. Glad I jumped on the 2012 IBM when I did!

DITTO!!!

I really don't understand the reason for dumping IBM for this... considering they're close in color, but IMO the IBM would outsell it any day. I seen it on a corvette and you really can't tell that its a blue until you get close up.

b4z 08-22-2012 05:29 PM

I've said it before, but this color is really dark. It only pops in the sunlight and when it pops it doesn't look like a blue, it has so much metallic in it that it goes grey.
Having said that, I am actually looking at this color for a 2013 Tahoe......interestingly, on the Tahoe it is an extra cost color.

Dusk 2SS 08-22-2012 07:36 PM

This color seems like it has an identity crisis. Regardless, I like it!

Soonerfan 08-22-2012 07:40 PM

Love that color....

H0peful1 08-22-2012 08:00 PM

It'll be interesting to see pix of an IBM Camaro next to a BRM in the same lighting conditions.

We seriously considered, as in went to see it 3x and test drove, a 12 IBM vert, but decided on 2013. IBM can also look near black in low light. They both shift in color. IMO BRM is only a bit darker than IBM and the flecks in IBM are a bit more blue. Very close.

Thanks for the pix!

xkloid 08-22-2012 10:05 PM

Well, different strokes for different folks. Personally I am glad I got the 2012 IBM, but as others have said, final judgement needs to be in person. I like the color shift on IBM, seems almost purple, then blue, then near black at times. Wish I had leather though ;)

RacingSnoopy48 08-23-2012 06:34 AM

Its looks way to gray for me. you cant really tell what color it is until its next to something else. I liked IBM way more IMO!

Im with this guy, Topaz Blue is a killer hue and would look amazing on the 5th gen.

Monte Mac 08-23-2012 02:57 PM

I saw this color on the new Impala and 60th aniversary Corvette at Woodward and didn't care for it. That along with these pics is enough to convince me I'm getting IOM instead!

b4z 08-23-2012 08:47 PM

Actually saw a blue ray 2ss today. It was parked next to a IBM Silverado and when I saw the darker Camaro I knew it was blue Ray metallic. Intersting how it was optioned. NPP exhaust with no rear spoiler.
I also think I like the new wheels because of how much the brakes show.
Anyway, I would liken blue ray metallic to the color of A overripe blueberry. It was overcast so the metallics weren't popping.
It was good looking Camaro regardless.
My overall reaction is positive, moreso if I could see the we car in full sun light.

b4z 08-30-2012 09:39 AM

new pic of a car that had not been prepped yet.

I still prefer IBM, now that I see BRM in the sunlight.http://www.camaro5.com/forums/attach...1&d=1346087515

Nice color, but hard to tell if it's Charcoal based or Blue. Most pics seem to make it look Charcoal Gray.

tazz3 09-03-2012 04:11 PM

Great looking color for sure....

Here are some iPhone pics the wife took with her iPhone. This was a 1SS/RS at a local dealership.

I was also going to make that suggestion. You might also want to add those pics you took just after the car was unloaded. The sun was just right and made that color look better that I've seen yet!

Loving it.

BowtieBelle 09-27-2012 01:38 PM

Great pics! Looks more blue there; first ones I've seen that remind me of my IBM.

mamissah 09-27-2012 02:41 PM

Yea it only looks like this in direct bright sunlight. Most of the time its mistaken for black or grey.

Trah 10-02-2012 12:09 AM

Here's mine! Really hard to appreciate the color when not standing next to it. i especially enjoy the purple hue. got it Aug. 31st.:

It looks too close to gray and black IMO, but I've never seen one in person and I believe The Bex when she says it is hard to capture in a photograph.
