Question about Headers...

I currently have my SS L99 with a Corsa Cat-Back with stock headers and catalytics. I am looking into getting Kooks Long Tube Headers 1-3/4. If I get these headers, will I need to buy some pipes to connect it to my Corsa or what? Im confused a little.

Thanks for the help in advance!

When you buy Kooks LT's, as well as most other major brands, you'll need to choose either catted or non catted connection pipes which will mate right up to the stock or aftermarket exhaust. Also, get the 1 7/8" primaries on the headers, not 1 3/4"!

+1

Also if you are looking to get Kook's pick up the phone and call maryland speed. Their pricing is better than what they have listed on their webiste

What will be the difference between the 1-3/4 and the 1-7/8. Also, one more silly question. If I order, catted, it will come with some catalytics already connected to them? Thanks!

1-7/8 were tested to show the best power gains with 2" being reserved for forced induction cars. The cats will connect to the merge collector which I think is a type of ball and socket joint on the Kooks. Then the other side will be a slip flange to your existing exhaust. They won't come connected so to speak but its a simple bolt-up.

I could be wrong on the connection types since they vary by manufacturer.

Here's mine with the same setup as you want.

Thanks for the information lsuguy. Really appreciate it.

Duffmobile. I have seen your video on youtube a bunch of times. Love the way it sounds. Did you have cats or no?

I have cats, but I put the LS3 Corsa on my L99. The x-pipe has no resonators so its a bit louder.

2" will get you some more HP in the higher RPM! ARH anyways, From JRE Header test!

Its not that cats will make it louder, its a different sound. Going cat-less gives the exhaust a raspier sound (IMO). That and your exhaust will smell, as the unburned fuel and such isn't being burned off.

You really don't need 2" for a N/A motor.

You do need catted connections to connect headers to a catback. If you have questions, give us a call @ 443-730-9428. Thanks!
