GM has opened the doors for third-party developers to create apps for MyLink.

For anyone who's interested in developing MyLink Apps (or any other reason you might want access to the core MyLink files cough*jailbreak MyLink*cough) here is where you can sign up for a free developer account: https://developer.gm.com/index.php

I will be adding items to this list as I learn about them. Until then, this is all I've got.

How to Update Your MyLink Radio for New Apps

The BringGo/TuneIn/Siri Eyes Free bundle software update is an interim 2013MY production upgrade on 2013 Sonic and Spark models equipped with MyLink.

Sonic, Spark and Trax models with MyLink built before the production upgrade can be upgraded at the dealership.

Programming Information

Refer to #PI0914 for complete information about programming the MyLink radio with the new calibration.

In addition to the new BringGo/TuneIn/Siri Eyes Free bundle software update, it also addresses several MyLink radio conditions regarding a Service Rear Camera message, FM or XM radio station default, XM operation, and inoperative Bluetooth functions.

Programming Instructions

The latest calibrations for the radio are available on TIS2Web. Reprogram the radio following the Service Programming System (SPS) procedures in the appropriate Service Information.

Next, update the radio again, this time using a USB flash drive. It requires a USB 2.0 flash drive with a minimum capacity of 4 GB. In TIS2Web, select A11 Radio USB File Transfer – Programming from the Supported Controllers screen.

Any existing data on the USB flash drive will be erased during the TIS2Web-to-USB flash drive download process. Once the software is downloaded to the USB, do not add any data to the flash drive. The USB 2.0 flash drive should be a known good device with a light to confirm the device is reading/writing when attempting to access.

After all the files are downloaded to the USB flash drive, eject the device from the computer and insert the USB flash drive in the radio USB port.

TIP: If the message “The following update file is invalid SMD file” is displayed, follow the steps in #PI0914 to change the date and time to continue programming.

When the update info screen appears, select Update. (Fig. 5) The USB 2.0 flash drive must be installed into the vehicle before selecting “Update Info.” Do not remove the USB flash drive while the update is in progress.

Once the USB programming has been completed successfully and all the steps in the programming procedure are completed, verify that there are two new icons (BringGo and TuneIn) displayed on the smartphone link screen.

Problem is...we need a way to upgrade through USB ourselves...not the ****in dealer.

You don't need the dealer. You just need someone who can get you the firmware (aka someone with a TIS-2 account who doesn't mind sending you an email with the file attached).

The Stig 08-29-2013 07:47 AM

Fun fact:

With the new MyLink (if you have a iPhone 4S or iPhone 5), holding down the "talk" button on your steering wheel activates Siri

Oby1 08-29-2013 10:46 AM

where can we go to see if our MyLink has updates available?

Don't know. I'm working on trying to find a version history of the firmware/software - but been busy at work unfortunately.

Wanted to let people know that the current MyLink version has red light cameras as a POI

What version do you have?

Ksmoke 08-30-2013 10:58 PM

Can any mylink system upgrade to that new navigation? Or is there a seperate mylink version that has nav? The only navigation I am able to use is through onstar.

Well well...what do you know? I have it, so does my GF's 2014 impala...thanks for that tip!

45thCamaro 09-01-2013 09:43 AM

I just put my wife into a 2013 equinox with mylink. It doesn't have navigation or anything like that, but would these apps still be available for that unit? I'm unsure what firmware it is running. I could always run out and look.

Gracenote, Pandora, and Stitcher should be available.

Can you post what version you're running?

Do you have the red light as on option in the POI's or is just comes up on the navigation?

We have pandora and stitcher. I am not sure about grace note. My wife just went out I will check when she comes home. I think the biggest thing I would want for my camaro is the updated integration with the iPhone. When I make calls now, I have to say voice, wait for the phone to make the beep and then say who I want to call. Not a huge problem, but I've noticed that when I make calls that was, it comes up as an unknown call on the radio and HUD

Do you not have the "Phone" icon on your home screen? I click that and it has my whole address book - well ish, it doesn't let me scroll past a certain point (think I have too many contacts). But if I press and hold the "Call" button on the steering wheel for a few seconds it activates Siri.

It's not an option on its own, it's in one of the sub categories. I want to say its under automotive - but will fiddle with the options later today and find out for sure.

Also - Siri isn't an option on its own either, I think it's just integrated into the Bluetooth.

If you can let me know which sub it's under that would be great. Siri works for me if I pushed from the phone, just not the call button on the steering wheel.

Thanks!

Yes pretty sure we do, she should be home in a few. I'm going to try and sync my iPad. It has Siri on it, our phones don't (iPhone 4). I will report back shortly. I need to look up to see if there is any update for the old radio in the camaro.

Oh yea sorry, should have mentioned. The Siri feature only works if your phone has Siri (ie a 4S or a 5).

So......I can't get the camera POI back. Even if I enable all of them they aren't showing up anymore. Dammit.

I also have a new icon on my home screen. Text messages. Going to have to pull the log files to see if an update was pushed to the car.

Yeah I know that part lol. I'm in the car now I'm going to uploa some pics of the screen.

I went to config/radio settings/software versions menu. I have a couple of things here, one of which is a "update radio software" option. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/09/02/byryruse.jpg

There is a bunch more, I didn't want to post a picture of all of them it seemed like a lot of scrolling. What more http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/09/02/ybu8uhaj.jpg

WTF??? Do you have a windows mobile phone?? If not you must have some newer SW on mylink that we dont. I have NEVER seen that. And the camera POI should be in the nav/map settings, listed as security cameras.

Nope, iPhone 5.

And I don't have "security cameras" as a POI option.

Just wanted to update, I went out to my wife's car with my neighbors iPhone 4S. I synced the Bluetooth and tried to get Siri to come up with the steering wheel controls. I pressed and held the talk button and nothing happened. However if I press and hold the home button to make Siri come up like normal on the iPhone, the audio transfers to the car.

In my camaro, I don't have the MYLINK, and in order to get access to my iPhone 4 phone book, I need to press the button on the steering wheel and when the prompt says "Ready" I need to say "Voice". Then after it will say "Ok Voice...Accessing IPhone". Then I hear the voice command beep and I can say whoever I want to call.

Sorry to steer in the wrong direction briefly, I am curious if anyone with a non MYLINK has to do the same thing in their camaro.

Just discovered that the entire MyLink software is done through various Open Source projects - which means, somewhere on the Internets, is a directory of the MyLink firmware/software versions.

Ugh...we need to locate it! Updates without the dealer would be aweesome. Ford has this right, just go to the web, download update, flash, done.
