Change oil once per year?
I got my Z in May and changed the oil, rear diff, and brake fluid after the break in at around 1700 miles. That was about 5 weeks ago. I'll be putting the Z to bed for the winter here in a few weeks. Prior to that I'll be changing the oil again. I'll probably be under 3k miles total at that point. Honestly, I can't see myself putting more than 5k miles on it next year before storing for the winter again. Is a single oil change before storage enough? I could change it mid-summer, but the oil will probably only have about 2k miles on it. I'm using Mobil 1. Thoughts? (All of this is assuming I don't hit the track. If I'm hitting the track a few times, it will be changed more often)

If you're driving under 5k a year once a year is fine

I change my oil every 4 months regardless of miles. Some will say I am wasting my money. But it isn't there car.

That is what I average with my other cars. My other lsx cars struggle to see 600 miles of usage a year, so I change the oil in those cars annually.
I am figuring that it will be the same way with my ZL, unless it reaches 1500 miles before winter sets in. |
I put on around 5k miles/yr and only change it around this time before putting it away. In fact, just did it this morning and it was at 35%

I put about 3000 miles on my Z a year. I change the oil and do a diff service prior to storing it.

I recommend at a minimum, regardless of miles, change it twice a year; once before you put it away and once in the spring.

todays oils are much much better than back when they said change it every 4 months. |
Fuel continues to drip from the injectors unless you depressurize the fuel system in my experience. So your problem would be fuel dilution after storage. Therefore if you only change once a year I would do it in the spring.
There is a thread here of a guy that lost oil pressure at the track just after taking it out of storage. The conclusion was fuel diluted oil. |
Less than 3K per year for mine so once a year and also don't forget the brake fluid flush yearly. Just cheep insurance.

If you daily drive your car, then IMO you should change the oil at 3-4,000 mile intervals. You may see a lot of arguments about not changing oil before 7500 miles, but in most discussions I've seen people neglect the fact that particles, spent fuel and dirt get trapped into oil, and these factors will contribute to increased wear of the engine internals if the oil isn't properly maintained.

Oil doesn't break a sweat lasting a garage queen year. The reason you want to change at least once a year is just because of the filter. I agree with changing the oil after the car comes out of storage not before
