Camaro to be on Top Gear, Season 15, episode 3! (to be reviewed by Richard Hammond)

For all you Top Gear fans out there, the new season kicked off today in the UK. Being a fan, I looked up an episode guide and saw that episode 3 this season (set to air July 11th), lists the Camaro as one of the cars they test!!! It should be interesting... Jeremy Clarkson typically isn't a fan of most American cars, but it should be great to watch no matter what. :D

i just watched the first episode of season 15. it was very funny. better than that i thought it would be.

He wont like it. The only American car he likes is the zr-1 lol

Agreed. And even with the ZR1 it took him around 500 miles to warm up to it and a 176mph run on the salt flats. It will be interesting to see which parts they complain about the most though! lol :chevy:

He'll get all giddy like a school girl while he's doing burnouts and stuff. Then he'll go on to say it's rubbish. He'll definitely call the interior rubbish and very "American." He will probably make some comments about it being big and heavy just like the Americans. He may also say brilliant a few times when talking about the acceleration or feel of the large v8, but he'll immediately follow with more reasons the car is rubbish.

Who was the dude from Europe who loved the Challenger SRT-8?

In all honesty I think the camaro will surprise clarkson. sure he will be quick to point out how un-perfect it is but im sure once he puts the throttle down he will say that non of that stuff matters.:D

I hope they make James May drive it! :laugh: I wonder what stiggy can do in a Camaro SS around the track? I'm guessing 1:25 to 1:26.

you guys do realize the camaro will get a bad review right. there man test is on handling. the camaro sucks when it comes to handling.. it just cant keep up with a m3 or a 370z on a track

I hope he doesnt compare it to the mustang, because if i remember right the mustang they tested was the GT 500.

I think he has owned a couple GT's. Then of course the third gen camaro he drove from florida to new orleans...hah. god I love this show, even with all the american bashing... (which does get kind of annoying.)

:w00t:Oh Man I cannot wait this is by far my favorit show. To bad you cannot get uncensored dvd copies here in USA. His favorit car is the GT40 which he bought, and I think the first quirky thing he will say is he wont fit in it like so many other cars:laugh:. I'm confident he wont like it much and for every compliment will be two or three complaints, followed by only in America, but how do we drive them with our Mcdonald hamburger bellies getting in the way. With all that I still am going to set the DVR. Like I said I love this show just like I love my car.:drinking:

Here's what he will say about it.

It's too big, the blind spots are enormous, it's heavier than Oprah, the interior is rubbish, the gearbox is sloppier than Oprah at an all you can eat buffet and it's American.

Maybe since he's a 7-foot tall freak, he may feel comfortable in the Camaro compared to say, a Lotus Elise. :)

Usually about 2 hours after it airs in the UK, it's up on that site so you can watch them they day the come out as well. I bought an external hard drive and went to town on the downloading haha I have 80 Gb of JUST Top Gear on it haha, all 14 seasons and the new one from last night.

The Reliant Robin film actually made me laugh out loud. When he skidded it by the news reporter in the background on it's roof I just lost it haha. It was staged, but still hilarious.

I think he'll like the camaro actually, because it's cheap compared to other things in it's performance range. They tend to like bang for the buck. And they LOVED the Vauxhall VXR8, which was basically a Holden Monaro, and that was basically a Pontiac G8. This is just a more sporty version of that. It'll start off with all the things he hates about it, interior, blind spots etc etc, but he'll do a 180 surprise in the middle and end up loving it.

Ughh. Get Hammond to drive it. He's the only one who really likes American cars.

As entertaining as Clarkson is, if a car doesn't cost an arm and a leg to buy, he won't like it too much.

Agreed.....I still love the show...good formula, basically The Three Stooges with cars! What better combination?

If its American car he wont like it for that reason.

Sweet! I just saw the first segment of the first episode when they test the Bentley...I was drooling the whole time.

now just an update, top gear loved the monaro (pontiac GTO in america), and the commodore (pontiac G8 in america), which are made by the Holden division of GM that supervised the production of the camaro, and also share the same underpinnings as the camaro, but the camaro is a lot heavier.

Well I know their expectations are going to be low, let's hope the car suprises them big time... Just be ready for mullet jokes.

yeah i thought about that segment when i first heard they were going to review it. I don't think they had tested the Holden/VXR8 yet though at that point. So he's just basing it on his knowledge of "general" american cars.

I have a feeling it will end up being a good review. Because this car does all the things that they loved about the VXR8. It's basically the same car haha
