Camaro winter driving checklist
 

Okay, so this will be my first winter in Canada driving my camaro. Its against my hopes, but last winter my winter beater ended up beating up my wallet between repairs and insurance; therefore I will be driving my reliable, under warranty, 2011 camaro 2SS in the winter and here is the list of what I gathered so far.

1) Bridgestone Blizzaks LM-60 245/45/20 all around on stock rims (I will get a new set of tires and rims for next summer maybe some 21's)

2) ZL1 Splash guards from RPI designs to protect from gravel and debris on the roads (I have ground effects package installed) (haven't installed guards yet, just ordered them)

3) Plat-Lust (paint protection and seats protection) / Rust undercarriage protection. [Dealer Installed/ applied ]

4) 3M Clear Film protection to full bumper, head lamps, fog lamps, side mirrors, edge of doors, and gills.

5) Winter mats

6) Krown rust inhibitor will be applied in october.

7) Shovel and anti scratch snow brush in trunk

8) total plus extended warranty from dealership (60months/120K)

Thats it pretty much what I got. Am I missing something ? Any advice for driving your camaro in the winter ?

9) Good insurance for when some jerk who doesn't know how to drive in the snow loses control and slams into your car.

havent driven this car in the snow yet either....worried about other drivers mainly but even still. a somewhat high horsepower car + RWD + snow usually is a bad mix.

with all the money you'll spend on the things just hit up autotrader and buy a new beater. not worth it to risk the camaro imo.

I drove my 2011 2SS in the winter on the factory Pirellis this winter, North Dakota lol. But i bought some snow tires for this upcoming winter tho. The car handled pretty well even on street tires, but I think its due to my driving skills. Just take off lightly, slow acceleration, and keep the revs low.

Look a Camaro is a nice car but you aren't getting anymore money for it on trade if you store it winters.

These things have stability control and TC so 4 snows and she is good.

I think I will use regular gas this winter as octane requirements are less in the cold and besides you don't need all that power in the winter.

As long as it gets washed frequently your good to go.

BTW OP add some Weather Guard custom fit rubber mats to that list.

Looks like you're set for winter here. Just be cautious of the gravel the city likes to use. My windshield sparkles like crazy from it after 2 winters.

Winter cannot come soon enough for us Floridians!

I should freak you guys out with the pictures of my car covered in snow last winter. The Camaro handled the snow better than my Suburban.

Alot of people are perplexed I would drive mine in the winter here in Vermont. I keep getting the "It's two wheel drive!". 2-wheel peel is all I have ever owned even on my trucks. I've always said if I can't drive some where with two wheel drive than I shouldn't be on the road.:wave:
