GM cant keep up with demand of 4cyl Engines
They better find a way to meet the demand!! The new Ford Escape will be out very soon and if someone cant find an Equinox on the lot, they'll look to the new Escape.

I'd go with the 2.4L too...
The 3.0L needs work. |
My wifes Terrain had the 4 and she really liked it. Decent power and good MPGs untill it turned into a submarine.

GM's been phasing out the 3.0L across the lineup but it's still in the Theta-IIs for some reason. |

If it were up to me, I'd have 2 V6's in my engine lineup. A 3.1L for sedans and crossovers. Then a 3.8L for trucks, SUV's, and as a performance V6. |
The 3.0L was originally expected to become the new base V6 for GM, even more efficient than the 3.6L. The problem is that any fuel efficiency gains from shrinking the V6 were negated by the ridiculously high RPM required for peak torque.
When GM is milking 270+ HP out of a 2.0T I-4 (and that's out of the last-generation 2.0T, the even more powerful next-gen will be in the Malibu later this year), there's no point to have the 3.0L anymore. |
Well we have had our 4cyl 2010 Equinox for almost 2 years now and it has 24,000 miles on it. We love it and my wife is averaging 22.5 MPG with a ton of lights between home and work. We couldnt be happier with it.
I just wish there was a way to have AWD and keep the great MPG. You get one or the other. |
