OK... my car is home. I wil post some pictures over the weekend of the result.
Right now I have a single code in the system..for the airbag, and that's it.. only the 1 code! No One at GM will allow the airbag circuit to be disabled. Not that it matters now - there are NO airbags. I can live with it the way it is. It means I have the "service airbag" light on the dash cluster gauge when the car is started. It's not that big a deal for me, as I am used to having the "Service TPS? or it is TPM?" for the tire sensors. I can clear the service errors from the dash cluster after starting the car. I have a new service light on the dash cluster - from the stabilitrak system. It is disabled. Not sure what we did to break that.. funny thing is we aren't getting any codes for it. My TC button is useless. does absolutely nothing. The service tech said the stabilitrak system is not talking to one of the other modules. Good thing is I can break traction (smoke the tires) as it is. We are going to fix stabilitrak some time in the future. Onstar is disabled. had to keep the box in the car - the onstar box affects the fuel mgmt. I guess that is how Onstar shuts the car down - by trimming fuel. The tech shut off the VCIM from the SDM module to the onstar box, removed the battery backup for Onstar box, and disabled the GPS. So, when I start the car, I need to clear a few messages with the reset button, which I have been doing anyway, due to the TPMS sensors for the Tires. |
Passed my NHRA chassis certification today.
Roll cage is now good to 8.50 seconds and slower. I got another pretty sticker on my car.:D |
Well congratulations !!! Not easy getting a true 8.50 cert cage installed...:bellyroll:
Also with regards to the Airbags, OnStar, etc. You have to be so careful because everything has tentacles to everything else... Crazy stuff on a CAN bus. |
I was pretty happy.. it passed with no issues.
Yes, the tech at Portsmouth chevrolet had to rework a lot of the systems to get everything squared away. I am down to doing a little work in the rear seat area - adding a piece of 1/8" MDF, carpeting the rear seat area, and installing the passenger seat and passenger 5 point harness. That will make the interior modifications complete. I will post pictures of it tomorrow after I finish up and can clean it up a little bit. |
Ok, I got the drivers seat and harness done.
For the rear seat area, I built a false floor out of 1/4" MDF and a 2X4, and then carpeted it. I need some more hardware from Jeg's for the Passenger seat harness - that needs to be installed before the seat. Here's a few pictures of the interior. http://www.camaro5.com/forums/attach...1&d=1301271026 http://www.camaro5.com/forums/attach...1&d=1301271149 http://www.camaro5.com/forums/attach...1&d=1301271164 http://www.camaro5.com/forums/attach...1&d=1301271995 |
That has to be the blingest autoX car in you race series!!!!!!!!!!!!!:) Looks awesome.

Beautiful cage install !! :w00t:
Just remember (which I am sure you already know) when you go to C5FestII, the cage padding near your helmet has to be SFI approved padding. |

New 9.5" rear end from Lingenfelter arrived. Complete with Axles and driveshaft.:happyanim:
The diff and related parts can handle 1400 HP on the LPE drag car. It should do nicely for me. I ordered this with a 4.10 gear set, and no pre load on the carrier - as I am using this for road race and autocross. The carrier has worm gears in it, and will do an instant torque bias, side to side. Just what I need for Autocross! Here are some pictures of the parts prior to installation. |
That is one big differential. You break that and we will have buy you way more than a beer...
Looks good though. Hope it goes together smoothly for you. What ratio were you running before the 4.10's ? |

I don't think I can break it.. It's going to be a LOT of fun trying... :D Lingenfelter had the same setup in their 1400HP drag car all last year, no issues. It should be just fine with my little ol' 530 HP... I was running Stock gears before.. 3.42's. or 3.45's - whatever came with the M6 SS cars. |

That'll be a nice kick-in-the-pants going to 4.10. Firebird Raceway - lookout ! |
