Here's a nice comparison shot of the 3 different variations of Toe Rods that BMR offers.

The toe rod is responsible for maintaining toe settings of the the rear wheels similar to tie rod ends on the front end. This ensures that the wheels remain set to a fixed position, not erratically pointing inward or outward under loading. The factory rods are made from flimsy stamped steel and use soft rubber bushings at the mounting points. Under heavy loads, deflection of the toe rods and/or bushings can contribute to poor launch stability (wheel hop), inconsistent handling and decreased braking ability.

TR002 -- Manufactured from heavy duty 1" x 2" heavy wall DOM and use spiral fluted, low deflection polyurethane bushings for minimal NVH transmission. Best suited for primarily street-driven cars that do not need additional toe setting adjustability.

TR003 -- Double-Adjustable (on-car adjustable), manufactured from 1.25" DOM tubing, uses the same spiral fluted, low deflection polyurethane bushings as the TR002, heavy duty 3/4" chrome moly double adjuster. Best suited for lowered vehicles or anyone wanting additional toe setting adjustability. Note.....adjustable toe rods are required for anyone utilizing the TCA028 Lower Control Arms.

TR004 -- Double-Adjustable (on-car adjustable), manufactured from 1.25" DOM Tubing, QA1 3/4" XR series chrome moly teflon-lined rod ends. As with any spherical bearing style rod end (heim joint) application, users should expect a slight increase in NVH transmission. Best suited for high HP and/or high load applications looking for the strongest possible toe rod with zero deflection. Note.....spherical rod ends in any application are NOT totally maintenance-free. Cleaning, lubrication, and frequent inspection are recommended at regularly scheduled intervals (I would suggest at every oil change).

Toe Rod connection points with polyurethane bushings are supplied with grease zerk fittings to allow easy lubrication with a grease gun. As with all of our dynamic polyurethane bushings, you should use a fully SYNTHETIC grease. Do not use a petroleum-based grease, as it will cause deterioration of the bushings over time. We strongly recommend any of the following....

Is a lithium based grease okay to use on the TR002 and other trailing arms also the sways?

Thank you for this post. I was thinking about these today and trying to budget for a set though not sure which one. Now, I can narrow down the search.

No, don't use Lithium-Based grease on your bushings. Find a high-quality synthetic grease like SuperLube or the AMSOIL stuff mentioned above.
